I am considering purchasing a wdh for my x17z. Towed fine without it last summer but I am looking for recommendations for which one would work well on my Tacoma.

I use an Equal-i-zer on my X17A...exact same trailer and it works perfect with my Rav4.

Tows like a dream.

Just about any properly set up wdh will work fine. The key is properly set up. I am using a Reese wdh that was given to me by my in-laws. It is probably 30 years old. I added a friction sway control even though I had no problems without the sway control. Despite being an old relic, it tows like a dream.

We also have the Equal-i-zer hitch. We have a 2014 X17Z and tow it with a 2014 Nissan xTerra. After adjusting the height a couple times to level everything out my husband said it was so much better towing, no more bouncy feeling.

As said, any properly setup WD will work fine. Mine is an off-brand trunnion bar system (Quality S, I believe). It's 12 years old and has been used with 2 trailers and 4 different tow vehicles, and has performed beautifully. The first trailer was an '03 Kiwi 17a, an ancestor of your x17z.

What ever hitch you choose, you will be amazed at the difference because you'll get much needed control back on your front wheels. That's the job of a WD hitch.

No Problem. You would not be disappointed. Just make sure it is the E4 and not E2.

I use the Equalizer 10K. No issues and the space created using it allows me to drop my tailgate without hitting the Electric jack.
