X23B - Bed sizes

We are just ordering our x23b and among our many questions are those having to do with the various bed options.

We have two fold down beds and also one that converts from the dinette: We are hoping that a queen size fitted sheets might work for these.

- What are others using for these three beds?

- Other than the heated mattress pads, what are others using in cold weather?

- We are already ordering Popup Gizmos, but we have read of rain or dew coming thru into the bedding area. Is this truly an issue? Again, how do we mitigate that?

Thanks for your help.

We never had an issue with rain or dew in our hybrid unless we touched the canvas. We do a lot of cold weather camping and when we had our hybrid we would use flannel sheets, lots of blankets, furnace or mr buddy heater(boon docking), and occasionally a heated mattress pad. Queen sheets "fit" our 23J beds except they were too deep. Made for 12" thick mattresses. So instead of having some custom made we just tucked them under the mattess.

As far as heat we use electric space heaters one at each end and if it is real cold we use electric blankets also we have queen bed on one end and a full on the other ,we just went walmart and purchased flat sheets, standard sheet sizing doesnt fit right

We use standard queen size sheets. Electric mattress pads, and one 1500 watt electric space heater.

As for condensation in cool water, Crack open one window in each bunk, about 2-3 inches. We also Crack open the bathroom vent about 1/2 inch. No issues at all now.

Thanks to all who contributed to the answers. We will hold off on those heated mattress pads and start out with flat sheets.

We have the slightly smaller in length sister of your camper. A x20e. We have the same bunk ends as you so.
I bought 2 queen sheet sets from target.
The fitted sheets go on the bunk end mattresses and the "deep" pockets are perfect because if you think about it they hold the sheets in place!
The fitted sheets I tuck into the folding couch or the dinette if we use that.
We are actually camping right now so here is a picture of the corner of our bunk.

We like to keep things simple. We don't bother being fancy with fitted sheets. We lay down a single unzipped sleeping bag with the inside up as the base then simply throw a couple of comforters and pillows on top. Two minutes tops to "make" the bed. You can make setup as simple or as complicated as you chose.

We've owned 2 hybrids over a 12 year period. We've only had condensation issues on really cold damp nights. It's actually rather rare that it gets so bad it drips. Leaving a corner of a flap open or a window helps a lot. Again in the spirit of KISS we find the PUGs are a hassle for the little benefit they provide in our climate.

For really cold weather we just bundle up. We've camped numerous times in the upper 20s and low 30s. It's a little colder on the bunks but nice and toasty under the blankets. And we often do what we did back in the days of tenting in that kind of weather, wear socks to bed. My wife has a heating blanket that I think she's going to starting keeping in the camper during the season.

X2 on the sleeping bags we never use sheets like it Quick and easy. Our average trip is 6 weeks at a time with about 4-5 moves and just fold up the bag and place it on the dinette seat when on the road. We have 2 oversized bags from LLBean that give us plenty of freedom in width so it's not like being in a tight bag. Each bag takes up about 65% of the width of the tent end. I think they go down to 15-20 deg. so were never cold in Oct. Nov. and in the summer in the PNW with PJs on were like half in and half out.

We used queen sheets on the bunks and they were a touch too big but they worked. The PUG's were worth every penny and help in hot and cold weather. We camped a few times down into the high 20's and were never uncomfortable. We used a 1500W electric space heater that has a thermostat on the floor of the TT set to about 45 deg at night. We never bothered to use the furnace. On the bed we used (and still use) a blanket and down comforted that we retired from use at the house.

Thanks to all for the ideas of bedding. It is 115 degrees here today, so I see us doing the sheet thing in summer heat and the sleeping bag in cooler times. I am all for doing the easiest - after all, this is supposed to fun, eh?

Special thanks for posting the pic above.

Yep, 90 degrees and lots of humidity this past week through today.
Sheets and the AC for us.
I do get condensation though. My in-laws have an 11 year old hybrid and the mattresses have vinyl on the under side.
Not sure why they went away from that because I think it would help.
Oh well, we will try the mattress covers soon and see if that helps.
Hope everyone had great camping weekends!

What year is your X20E? Ours is a 2013 and has vinyl on the bottom side of the mattresses.

Please post what you find out with Jayco. Our X19H has no vinyl and we have had the condensation issues also.
I have searched online trying to find replacement mattresses with the vinyl bottom.
