X23b CCC

Hey all! We pretty much made up our minds and are going to purchase a x23b, I noticed that the ccc is only 750lbs. That doesn't sound like much considering all the storage that's available in that camper. Maybe I'm over thinking it but does anyone have issues with over loading them?

I would not exceed it. The axels have a weight capacity. The trailer weight and the CCC, I am guessing add up to near that number. Over loading is such a risk, tows bad, stress on the tires, braking. And the fact your insurance co. possibly refusing to cover a claim because the person overloaded. All adds up to a " Don't Do It ' in my book.

I think you will want to be very careful in your loading or you will certainly end up in an overload situation. The scale is your friend here. My 195RB has a similar CCC - 735lbs as delivered. It is very easy use all that up - especially if you are filling the fresh water tank with any significant amount. I recently weighed all the stuff that always stays in the trailer and it came out to about 250lbs (includes 2nd battery and full hot water tank). At 8.3lbs per gallon the water adds the weight quickly so we normally run with about 6-8gal in the fresh water tank for use when on the road.

Once you add all your other stuff on top of the "fixed" items there's not much left. My GVWR is 3750 with a GAWR of 3500. I scaled the whole setup a couple of times and settled in with a loaded trailer weight of 3685 and a axle weight of 3260. Tongue weight is managed to 425-450lbs which is right around 12%. As I just added the 2nd battery I'll be scaling again before heading out for the upcoming season. I think it's really important with the lower CCC values that you keep close tabs on what and how you load the trailer.

This is the reason we are staying away from this model. Family of 5 with a 90 lb dog, I don't want to play the weight game when loading. Good luck to you!

Also, make sure to look at the yellow sticker on the exact unit you want, I have seen this model with options only leaving around 500lbs CCC.

Just don't fill the fresh water tank until you get to your destination. 750 pounds is a lot of stuff. We used to make due with the 350 pound ccc on the X17Z, so this is luxury!

The X17z is a popular hybrid (I had one too). The OCCC in that little guy is a joke though; would it have killed them to put a heavier axle on it?

It definitely came down to the x23b and the x213 I like the idea of not having to have to deal with the canvas but the wife likes the leg room in the x23b. Those are by far our two favorites, but not saying we bring a lot I would think 750 lbs would add up quick!

We have a 23B, I have never been to a cat scale, so I do not know my true numbers. There is a lot of stuff in our htt. We rarely have much water in our tanks. I do carry a couple gallons for road side needs. If I had to guess ready to go down the road we have under 500 pounds of gear. Worst item for weight is bottled beverages.

That is base, without options. I have seen yellow stickers on 2016 unit that gives a CCC of around 500 after options have been added.

Sorry, i forgot I had that in my Sig, i was premature when adding it. We ended up not going with the X213, it is much too small for all of us and our 90lb lab. We are considering either the X23F or Forest Rivers Rockwood Roo 21DK. There was just not enough storage or leg room in the X213. We will be pulling with a 4runner so we have no truck bed to haul extra stuff.
