That's the truth on what I get and the dealer told me when I bought it I could bring it back if I didn't like it. On a 7% grade pulling 5,000+ lbs it's only running28-2900 RPMs. It's an 8 speed Diesel.

The magic is in sophisticated AWD traction control as well.

Yeah, those knobbies on the truck's tires aren't doing it any favors, nor is the suspension.

I'm curious about the Toureg's abilities too. It's out of the question for me - no good off road.

Yeah, I'd take that challenge. All he needed to do was step off the throttle and onto the brake and he wouldn't have gone anywhere. For an actual comparison, they both should have been in 4x4, but that wouldn't have made for a very entertaining video, watching the vw getting dragged all over the place. Next, hook them both to a 15,000 lb rv...
Some folks will believe anything. "It's true, I saw it on an internet video."

The truck was in 4x4, unfortunately, it has an open diff, so the other wheel was spinning

Negative on the 4x4 and open diff. Not buying that tale. There was no smoke from the front end at all, either side.
