Bansai,
I'd order a truck optioned the way you want it. Your gut reaction is the same as mine. You'd get a new truck sooner and one that hasn't been opened up. Just my .02

Good luck either way. Beautiful truck btw

Followed my gut and the advise from a lot of you. Thank you as always.

I was told my factory order will be here in 6 to 8 weeks. Regarding my original post on the recall... Ford hasn't released parts yet, but they have started rolling new trucks that don't suffer from this problem (otherwise I couldn't have ordered one). The original truck had 20 inch rims on it, which I didn't want, and 3.73 gears, which I didn't want. Was able to delete some things, and also add a bunch of other items. I'll post the window sticker when it is generated so you guys can critique my choices

I just traded my 2016 F150 for a leftover 16 F250 6.2 today- Lost a little in the trade but worked a smoking hot deal and the peace of mind on our next tow will more than make up for it. I'm missing my F150 already though.

Hope Ford gets this worked out for you quickly Mark...

Oh man, that's awesome! Congrats

I have a secret plan to trade in my 2014 Focus titanium for a 150 in about a year. I will_have another one. I already miss mine too and it's still in my driveway. You set your Equalizer up on the new truck yet? Curious what kind of adjustments you end up needing to make. I'll be doing the same swap in a couple months, god, or Ford willing.

P.S. Would like to see a pic if you have one.

Just picked up the truck today, so no I haven't setup the hitch yet. The 250 is considerably higher then the 150 so I expect to have to start from scratch with the hitch setup. We aren't camping again until Memorial Day so I have some time.

Here is a pic just before they brought her out. Not all too happy with the color but the deal was too good to pass up.

Just curious why you didn't want 3.73's? Seems like a pretty good match for the 6.2.

Looks sweet. I don't mind the color either, red is faster. Congrats again. Late reply here, I've been out of the house all day.

So, for us.. 3.73's would have worked. I wasn't that upset when the original truck we were buying had them. When given the option though, I think the 4.30 is better for towing in the mountains. 3.73's would have been my choice if we did most of our towing where it's more flat.

The 4.30's offer better acceleration and once you get up to 65mph in the mountains, the rpms will be just a tad higher than with the 3.73's so our available torque will be on hand without needing to down shift nearly as much. Basically, I'm sacrificing a tiny amount of MPG to keep the truck in the RPM range that provides what I believe to be the ideal power band more of the time. I know I'm going to miss the acceleration that the 150 had too. And I think the 4.30's will improve unloaded, around town driving just a little. Rumor has it most people see better mileage in and around town with those gears and slightly less at interstate speeds. So it's definitely a compromise. That was the logic I used anyway. Hope that makes sense to more than just me One other benefit of those gears is if I do get larger wheels/tires, or a small suspension lift, the 4.30's will deal with the larger rotating mass better than the others would.

Again, congrats on your new TV. It's going to serve you extremely well as I'm sure you know

I plan on completely starting over with my hitch setup as well. Maybe I'll finally really like my 10K hitch. As we've discussed before, I always felt it wasn't quite perfect for the 150 and my camper. It will have to be better on the new truck.

I had to have those marker lights on the top of mine too. My wife called me a dork, but whatever. The more I can do to encourage her to not take this truck over like she did the last one, the better. I'm sure it's futile though.

You will be much happier with the ordered truck! I was so close on the options I wanted with a truck I test drove but it was at a dealer I didn't want to deal with. They were a high pressure dealership only looking to make a sale no matter what. The dealership I bought from figured they wouldn't be able to get the truck on dealer trade knowing it was most likely for me so I just ordered the one I wanted.

As for the gears, you will absolutely love the 4.30's. All Tundras with the 5.7 and towing package got them and it didn't affect mileage at all. Definitely better for towing!

Congrats! I have gotten more comments on my red truck, I'm on my forth red truck now, this is when I first pick it up back in May of last year.

Mine came with the 3.73 gears. I couldn't find the 4.3 without ordering from the factory. I would be curious to know what your gas mileage is around town as well as towing. I get 14-15 mpg and 8-9 mpg while towing in the flat lands. Thanks.

I loved my 150 eco but am very happy I made the trade. Congrats Banzai!

Not very happy about the recall on the new truck though.

I've been checking the Ford recall site every day. My dealer tried to make a minor stink about the fact that I went with a factory order after rejecting the vehicle I had initially contracted for. The issue in their little mind was that my trade in was valued at X dollars as of mid-April, and factory orders take a while so they were threatening to reduce the value of my trade in. Stood my ground and let them know that at this rate - my factory order will be delivered *before* the recall work would have been and so I'm not budging on my trade in value 1 penny. I also reminded them that my 'preferred' dealer is about 5 blocks from my house and I would just sell them my truck if there were any misunderstanding. Long story short, they are honoring the original commitment.

One little update.. I checked the Ford order website this morning and I have an estimated delivery date on the new truck finally. They are saying June 18th.. which is impossible since it's a Sunday, but at least it's progress.

The recall is still showing as "Status: 12 - RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE."

So, obviously they know how to fix the problem since they are letting people order new trucks now, but they aren't / haven't shipped parts out to dealers yet to address existing trucks. I'll circle back to this thread when I see an update on the recall. I know a few people are impacted by it.

They issued my window sticker for the new truck yesterday. Here she is

The truck I passed on is still in active recall status. Looks like I'll end up with a better truck sooner, by factory ordering.

Actually that delivery date can be correct. That delivery date is when they expect the truck to be dropped at the dealer. New vehicles are delivered to dealers every day. You probably can take possession on the 19th, if the estimated delivery is correct.

That makes perfect sense. At this point in the process it's a total guessing game. The ETA is usually X amount of days after the Vin is issued and it's a pretty constant number. Over on the ford-trucks forum we have a spread sheet where everyone is tracking their dates.. order processing, vin issued, window sticker, ETA and actual delivery. It look like just over half the time, people are getting their trucks ahead of 'schedule'. Another huge variable is rail vs. convoy. Shipment via train seems to take several days longer as they won't move a rail car until it's full.. and then you have trains that sit parked in railyards for a week at a time. It looks like my truck is being built as I type this.. fingers crossed it shows up sooner than later. We aren't taking the camper out again until it shows up.

Truck shipped last week, hoping it shows up next week. It's on a train somewhere.

Here's the sticker - http://www.windowsticker.forddirect....7W2B62HED85473

Back to the recall - Ford is shipping parts now, so anyone impacted by the original post should probably be calling their dealer now.

Exciting news Bansai. Good call on ordering the truck you want. Gonna be a sweet ride!
