Electric awning recall

Will be calling domestic in the morning, but I just check my VIN and awning model # and dates, and all 3 fall within the recall range. I hope it can be fixed b4 Memorial Day weekend. I will not let this effect my vacation plans. Good thing that trip is not far (1.5 hrs away).

I just called Jayco and spoke to Donna, gave her my VIN number and she said mine was NOT listed on the recall. Should I contact Dometic and ask them or go with what I was told by Jayco?

Emailed my RV Dealer on the weekend as I have yet to pick up my TT (getting it on the 24th). Sent them the recall notice as my VIN fell in the range covered by the recall. I got an answerback this morning that they crossed checked my unit and it is not included in the recall. I'm guessing it must have the Care Free of Colorado power awning.
So far no reasons not to trust the dealer, but I will still give it a check when I pick up the TT.

I called dometic Friday evening and got set up with a claim #. I called my dealer Saturday and they did not know about it. I called Dometic again this morning and they called back with a phone # . Apparently a mom and Pop outfit. Talked to the wife and I am waiting on his return call now. I tried to get customer service at Jayco but no response. I want to ask about warranty repercussions if Dometic,s guy messes something up.

It's Dometic's recall and they are reputable and fix properly.

Not to worry.

Electric awning recall

Wow, Dometic said they would call me within 24 hours to set me up with a mobile repair person. They actually called back within a few hours, gave me the name and #of the repair service, and told me to give them a call to set up repair and that Dometic already notified them. Call the guy and he said Dometic shipped him the part and it should be in by end of week for repair next week. They mentioned the fix is a replacement motor.

Yesterday I went out to see if my awning numbers were in the range of the recall.......and it is, although I called Jayco a few days ago and was told that Jayco did not see any recall's for my TT under my VIN. Anyway, jdorant suggested I call Dometic, just got off the phone with them, set up my account, and was told the mobile service team will call me back to set up my appt. I told the lady on the phone that I have a trip planned to depart on 24 May and she said they would put a rush on it and the service should be complete by 23 May. We will see and I will let you folks know when they come to my house and fix it. She also said the fix is to replace the awning motor.

Just got off the phone with Dometic, again. This time, I was told our awning was NOT one of the models being recalled. FYI, the awning model # is 8952002.400B, serial #306xxxxx, made 2/15/13. Great news after calling/being called by Dometic every day this week. We leave on tomorrow's trip as planned, without me making some weird modification to the awning frame!

The service guy called me Wednesday and said he will be out early Saturday afternoon. I'm hoping.I don't know how much faith I have in this guy. It took him 3 days even to return my call. I had called once got a machine called again, his wife answered, said she has nothing to do with his scheduling, I called Dometic said I hadn't heard from him,he called me that evening saying he would be here Saturday.
Hope all goes well.

UPDATE: The repair guy called me Monday morning to set up the repair. I asked him if Monday evening was okay and he said he would be there about 5 (he showed up at 4:45). I asked him if he had ever done this before and he said once. Anyway, I helped him and it was actually not hard to do, took about 30 minutes. After he was finished, I rolled the awning in and out 3 or 4 times and it worked perfect. He gave me his card and said if there were any problems to give him a call.

Just got my letter today. Called Dometic hotline number given in the letter. They indicated they would have a servicer get back to me by phone. For those who have to get on the road before the fix, you can pull the 15 amp fuse for the awing circuit. On the White Hawk 27DSRL it is the 2nd from the bottom in the power center.

We picked up our shiney new 32TSBH saturday and the dealer informed us that there was a recall on the awning. Of course I already knew this as I visit the forum very often The dealer advised it would be ok to use as long as we zip tied it up when moving the trailer. I brought the trailer home and it seems to work fine....in and out several times w no issues. I got a call from the dealer today and they advised the parts are in and they will fix it as soon as I can bring it down. Sounds like its a pretty easy fix! I'm glad they are taking care of this promptly as I didn't want to worry about zip ties on our 6000km maiden trip acroos the country. Good job Jayco
