Jay Flight Recall

Got a recall notice today for our 2015 Jay Flight 24FBS. It includes all 2015 Jay Flight series TT manufactured between July 10 2014 thru October 24 2014 with the ELITE package option. The affected trailers have incorrect Cargo Carying Capacity labels (the yellow sticker). New labels were included in the envelope for us to replace or bring the TT back to the dealer to replace the label.

The incorrect info on the label was the weight of the full load of fresh water. Our original label said a full load of water was 399lbs. The correct label says 747lbs. The ELITE option has a fresh water capacity of 90 gallons.

No big deal really. If you know you have 2 - 40 gallon tanks (Elite Package), then do the math. 80 gallons x 8.345 #/gal = 667.6 #, plus the 6 gallons in the water heater at 50.07 for total of 717.67 #. Not sure if they count the water heater or not, but for weights sake it counts.

Not sure where the 90 comes in, unless somebody has a 10 gallon water heater. Hadn't seen that on the smaller Jay Flights.

In the end, it's unfortunate about the sticker, but, we've learned to not trust them anyway. Know your tank sizes, know your axle capacities, know your max gross vehicle weight, know what you're carrying, and get it on the scales. All that = peace of mind.

maybe I am wrong but just take the old sticker off and put the new one on. not a big deal. So somebody made a little mistake. It is not like the car people making a recall for the air bag.

We only have a 6 gallon water heater. I measured the amount of water with a meter and I also double checked it by timing it. It came out to 90 gallons both times. Today I looked at the tanks and each one has a stamp on it "45 US GAL". The new figure on our sticker is 747lbs so it's correct, 8.3x90=747. Some of the specs I've seen online also state 90 gallon tanks too.

This isn't really a big deal recall, Jayco provided 2 new stickers and instructions. The instructions say you can bring it to your dealer and they will replace it for you. Really? That's funny!

That's what the instructions say to do

I'll take your word for it on the 90. Our belly is enclosed and I haven't removed it to look at anything, yet. If I can get it down, easily, I'll probably blank off one of the tanks anyway. Absolutely no need for that much water ever in our case.

What it did was decreased the cargo weight we can haul. Its not a lot but its about 400lbs. One reason we bought the unit is because of its weight and what we could bring with us.

I hesitate to mention that if you don't fill the tank full, things are no different related to the added tongue weight.

BigJohnD......I don't know about your model, but in my 33RLDS, the filler goes to the front tank and the water level probes are in the rear tank. Kind of nixes the idea of disconnecting one tank.

Just don't fill it with water and its a moot point... The weight isn't reduced if there isn't any water in the tanks.

If you don't have the ELITE package then you won't have the larger water capacity.

We DO have the Elite package! We cannot get more than 42 gallons in it and have tried filling it more than once. We contacted Jayco and they couldn't give us an answer either. Our sticker weight is rated at the 90 capacity. Since we do lots of weekend trips, we time fill it at about 15 gallons and the sensor reads 1/3 tank, so we're stumped. My hubby does not want to undo the bottom to look at the tank, it' a big job for him.

The elite package does include the extra water tank.
Get in contact with your dealer while it is still in warranty.
