Apparently it was caught before any were sold or delivered to owners.

Seems like it. It was only for ones manufactured from Oct7 thru Oct 11th.

Oddly enough, it wasn't caught. We took delivery of our 17' 355MBQS on Oct 12, 2016. We are extremely unhappy with Jayco regarding this incident. I realize we all make mistakes, but this could have ended badly for me and my family. We already had 2 long trips under our belt before we even found out about the recall from our dealership. We are even contemplating getting rid of it already, not sure yet. I don't feel comfortable towing it anymore.

@UncleMan - being disappointed that one got out is certainly understandable but Jayco will correct the issue with new axles, wheels and tires without adjustment for wear n tear on the original undersized components. The dealer likely had early knowledge of the campaign and could have been proactive by reaching out to you with a safety concern. Trading the unit because of this easily correctable issue will only benifit the dealer. Just my .02

Thanks for the response Stingray.....The dealer did contact me regarding the recall about a month ago. They have done everything they can to make sure the issue is corrected, and my dealership is even picking up the Eagle and bringing it in to make the repair. It's just always going to be laying in the back of my mind that my axles have been "tampered with". I'm sure everything will be more than fine, and the dealership has competent technicians. If it had been a water pump, AC, or something of that nature I would care less. Just a legitimate concern for me and my wife to think about. Thanks again and happy camping!

Different year, but my 2016 339flqs has 6000 lb axles, and has a GVWR of 12,600. I've often wondered how they come up with this number given the axles aren't rated for it. I just recently read where some of the 16s were affected with similar recall bit can't find any official info, should I be worried?

From what I understand, they count on some of the weight to be on the pin/hitch instead of the trailer axles, therefore the lower capacity axles.

Approx. 20% of the rig weight is on the tongue or pin. Subtract the pin weight and then split the remaining and that is your axles weight load.

Assuming the load is evenly balanced. Most time there are variations on each wheel.

If NHTSA says 7000 axles that's good enough for me.I wonder what percentage of campers hit the road over loaded everyday? Before this Eagle we have now. Had a 40' Next Level Toy Hauler. We hit 22-23K a lot of times heading to the sand dunes. That was some heavy pulling. Happy Trails
