Wow! We are taking ours to RV Canada in August. We have 20 lights ordered. We'll be sure to double check everything when we pick it up.

Jayco is recalling 13,047 2017 Jay Flight Bungalow, Hummingbird, White Hawk, Jay Flight SLX, Jay Feather 7, Jay Feather and Jay Flight fifth wheel RVs because the LED ceiling lights may produce excessive heat, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. The excessive heat from the LED ceiling lights may increase the risk of a fire.
Sorry but sees a bit counter intuitive to me. Older trailers use incandescent lights which use more voltage and run hot. Newer LEDs (light emitting diodes) use a fraction of the power and thus supposed to be much lower in temperature. I mean, that's one of the selling points of LED lights - they don't get hot so your camper doesn't heat up - right?! If Jayco is recalling them, I'm starting to wonder WHY. Either way, I'm glad Jayco owned up to it and is fixing the issue now.

Called RV Canada and Jayco today to resolve the new issue of why only 6 of 18 lights were changed.
Jayco was able to look up the VIN and see what RV Canada reported on the work.
RV Canada report that they replaced 16 lights to Jayco.
RV Canada did call me back and did a great job figuring out why only 6 were actually change and took ownership of the entire issue and were very sorry for the confusion. A couple of technicians worked on the RV and did not relay the work each had done and things were missed.

So they offered a gift card or something for your troubles? Nice they owned up to it but they need to do something to make it right

I would take a Sharpie and put a dot on every fixture before dropping at the dealer, then a quick look at pickup to make sure they got them all.

I asked the dealer about the recall when I was negotiating the purchase of my new 23RB. It was manufactured in January of 2017. He said they were aware of the recall, and had fixed my particular trailer.
I wonder if Jayco could tell me if my trailer had indeed been fixed.

My Whitehawk was build the 28th of April. I have not received anything from the factory concerning the recall. I wonder if this build date is after the factory switched to the new lights? Have taken the unit out twice and have not seen an issue.

So I dropped my trailer off this morning at 10:00 to have the recall done. I was asked if I was going to wait since it would only take an hour to an hour and a half. I left the trailer and went back to work telling the service contact I'd pick it up on my way home. Went back after work and nothing had been done. Service manager that I was working with had left for the day. So I'm going to contact Jayco tomorrow to try to get authorization for another non-Jayco dealer to perform the recall and other warranty work. I dragged the trailer back into town to have this recall done. I had to physically visit the dealership three times just to set up the appointment and confirm that the lights had arrived. Unable to reach anyone in service via phone and none of the voicemails I left ever got returned. I'm heading out of town tomorrow morning for a 10 day family vacation. I can't believe how much of my time these guys have wasted already and they haven't actually fixed anything.

So I contacted Jayco this morning and they gave me the name of another dealer that is authorized to perform warranty work. The dealership is literally across the street from Camping World where I purchased the trailer and have gotten extremely poor results from the service department. The service department of the new dealership actually answered the phone when I called. I explained the situation and they said they could perform the recall work today if I could get the new lights from Camping World. After another 30 minute wait in the service department at Camping World I walked across the street and dropped of 15 lights the service department of the new dealership. I confirmed that they still would be able to get the work done today and walked back out to my truck and parked my trailer on their lot. I figured that it was worth wasting a day of our vacation to get this recall performed. Hopefully this new service department lives up to their word. It is still unbelievable to me the difference between the way the RV Industry service/warranty works vs. my experience with cars, trucks, boats, pwcs, atvs, motorcycles and side by sides. The Jayco customer service guy was very understanding, but basically said that their hands are tied since the dealers are independently operated. He did encourage me to complain to Camping World corporate about my experience. Hope the other 13,000 people that have to have this recall performed have better luck than I have had.

I'm still waiting for the phone call for mine. Should be next week or so I hope. This Camping World is way too small for the amount of business they do. Not sure why they don't relocate to a bigger place. 2 lane entrance road to get in and one lane is taken up by campers because there lot is over flowing and the surrounding empty building parking lots are slap full. Praying for the best

Mine is subject to the recall and I worked with my "high friend in low places" to secure a few replacements to get me set till I can bring the unit in. Below you can see the difference. The recalled lights have only 6 LEDs on the fixture while the replacements have 9. You can check by carefully popping off the plastic cover with the button in the center. (They will be reusing your old covers is my understanding so be careful about marking it up before hand.) I would suspect if you have the 6 LEDs they should be 9's when done but don't quote me on that.
Click the image to view better, the little yellow rectangles are the LEDs on the circuit board.

So my experience completely different than what you're stating. The lights for me recall look exactly like the ones shown earlier in this thread. They have a metal base (I think they're made out of aluminum) and come with a completely different cover. The built in switch is larger than the switch in the original lights.

HMMM Interesting. My "guy" just sent me a few so if the boy left that light on by his bunk all night I would not have to worry. My unit is set for first weekend in August where the dealer's techs will redo them. Maybe I got something they sent dealers while they stocked up on the other ones. I will check out the new ones they put in. Thanks for the heads up.

Well the good news is that the recall service is complete. It did end up costing me an hour of shop time to get it done today. Not super happy that I ended up spending $135 on something that should have been free, but I'm getting an education in the service side of the RV industry. Anyway here are a couple of pictures of the replacement lights.

Replaced 2 in the bathroom that melted myself, before I saw the recall. Picked up my Whitehawk may 19th but they let me leave the lot and I had to figure this out on my own. Warranty work begins next week for the remainder of the lights.
