2" Lower on Passenger Side

Wife has kept saying that our 31DS was lower on her side. Kept telling her that its the crown in the road. Finally parked it on level concrete with MH mostly empty and she's right. It's almost two inches lower, front and rear, on passenger side. Not sure what the issue may be.

Do you have the self-leveling suspension system? If so I have had a similar product on vehicles and they have been known to get out of calibration. What ever you do - don't tell the DW she probably needs to lose weight!!!!! [ATTACH][/ATTACH]

You're funny, but no I won't say that. No auto-leveling suspension, but may look into airbags, will be rechecking the tanks and making sure they are empty, plus removing excess cargo from both sides. Both slides are on the 'higher' side so maybe the plan was that the RV would be level once the slides are out.

I would be looking at the spring shackles on that side... My folks have an 05 fifth wheel (not jayco) that has busted 2 sets of shackles. When they break, the spring will "rest" on the frame if your lucky and will cause your camper to sag as you described. They brought it to a local dealer who keeps multiple sets on hand which tells me that is a common problem. I would check it out before taking it on a trip...Dave

First I would look at your equalizer shackle, which is the shackle that spreads between the two sets of leaf springs. We broke one in Montana many years ago. If it is broken you can go to a trailer shop and have them install a heavier duty set, then it will never be an issue. If that is not the issue, I would then start looking at a few other things, such as is there one or more items on that side that is really heavy. The first thing I would think of is the slide outs, but as you stated they are on the otherside. On most 5th wheels you can make height adjustments using a variety of different holes in the shackles, I would make sure they are adjusted to the correct settings. I would expect to see the heavy side adjusted slightly differently to offset the weight difference.

AIRBAGS....

Have your airbags adjustment checked.
Its not uncommon for them to be a little out of adjustment either at installation or after some miles.

Happens on 18 wheeler tractors also.

Check for a broken leaf spring leaf or bending/deformed (comparable to the rest of them). There was a thread on here w/ pics of exactly what your describing and the main leaf was bent at the spring eyelet.

Took the Greyhawk in to Richardsons RV. They agreed that it is lower on passenger side, but only 1". And that every unit they checked was lower on one side, so it's normal. I do have Hellwig helper spring, installed by Jayco, and they appear to be adjustable. U-bolts will raise or lower a side. Anyone made the adjustment? I may have to experiment.

Got an email back from Hellwig and of course they are adjustable. Something ill tackle after the slide gets adjusted and the door mechanism gets fixed, etc...

Got a PM email, thanks, saying that Jayco may have shimmed the drivers side to compensate for the 2 slides on that side. Will look for the shims next time I visit, provided rain has halted on Friday.

Asked Paul at Jayco, and he verified that they do shim the drivers side due to weight of slides. Shims may be removed. Now that I definitely know it leans by design I will think about it some more.
