2003 Granite Ridge 3100 water inlet question

The fresh water tank drains from the inlet connection when I disconnect the city water connection. Is a cap necessary to prevent the fresh water from draining or is there a valve that needs to be turned off or on?

Welcome to the forum, curly! Not clear just what is going on with your water draining issue, can you elaborate more?

On your fresh water inlet there is a screen behind the washer... remove both and GENTLY press the button there... it is a one way valve and has stuck in the open position.

As you can see the only way to stop the leaking is the white plug/cap on the water inlet. I removed what I thought was the check valve but it was actually the water regulator and there is no screen or check valve that can be accessed.
I don't think it is possible for the ball valve to be leaking because I can hear the water pressurize when I turn the vavle on. Also the 12v pump primes and turns off. Any other suggestions?

I am filling my empty fresh water tank. When the gauge reads 1/3 full, water overflows at my left rear wheel area. Am i filling the tank too fast or could there be a leak at that point of 1/3rd?
