The best way is to start with a few questions:
- Are those batteries EXACTLY the same Make/Mfr/Ah rating? They look like they are different sizes... or it may be an optical illusion (bad eyesight)
- When did the fuse blow?
- Did you turn anything on?
- Does it blow when you put a new fuse in?
- How many times have you blown the main fuse?
It may be that the batteries are discharged so much that the TT's battery charge controller is trying to put more than 30 amps back into the battery, and the fuse is blowing.
You will need to replace the inline 30 amp fuse and its holder (do not purchase the mini blade style). Any auto store has them, and it needs to be for a 30 amp circuit. You will also need to buy a few packages of 30 amp replacement fuses for the testing, and they are always good to have on hand.
- Wire in the new fuse assembly, but do not put the fuse in.
- Check the water level of the batteries. Top off if low.
- Take a voltage reading of the batteries (without the fuse installed) and write it down. If the battery voltage is below 10 VDC their may be a problem that the TT's battery charge controller is trying to put more than the 30 amps into the batteries. If this is the case, you will want to charge the batteries for a few hours using an external battery charger, just to get the batteries voltage up before reconnecting them to the TT's charge controller.
- You may want to disconnect the wires on the batteries that connect them together (wired in parallel) and see if the TT will charge them one at a time. You can then reconnect them together once both are charged. This will reduce the amount of amps going across the fuse.
The wiring looks ok but I would replace the jumper wires (connecting both batteries together). The jumper wires should be the same gauge and length as each other. You can purchase them from an automotive store, regular battery cables with holes in the lugs for screw mountings.
Make sure all your cable connections are tight (also the white one that connects to the TT frame)
It is not a complicated process, just take it one step at a time. The process of elimination
