Black tank gauge

I have the x23b which I think has close to a 30 gallon black tank. After I dump the tank the gage reads empty. After a few uses not even an hour later it was reading 2/3 full. I dumped again and it did the same thing. Anyone else have this issue?

You will find these "idiot light" indicators are just about worthless. Especially the black water tank. There are MANY, MANY threads on this very topic.

I also have a X23b, and I've come to ignore the black tank light, because it always reads 2/3 full....

Which begs the question; why do I keep pushing the button to see if the black tank light will read empty since I know it never will

I take a few moments and rinse mine and it works great but it isn't needed. Not hard to tell when you have to dump it.

4 people using the tank for 2.5 days usually only fills ours about 1/3 of the way.. If that much..

Lucky "bums". I've only got 9 gallons in my Swift SLX Baja. Water use stricter than a French nun!

Glad we aren't the only ones with this issue. Home after a week out in the TT and we're trying to 'soak' it into working. Filled the black tank with water to see if that will do anything. I did see a tank sprayer thingy for cleaning out the tanks at a Big R store in Washington. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Black tanks always seem to show 2/3 full after use. It's when they show 3/3 that you have to get ready to DUMP.

The rotating sprayer definitely helps tho. It's also nice having the black tank flush now.

I ask myself that very same question every time I push that button! "why are you doing this knuclehead? You know it's not telling you anything!"

Perhaps I just like to look at the shiny lights...

We have a 264BH with the same black tank light issue. I'm slowly training myself not to worry about the "lights" - they lie, lol

This might be worth a read and a try!! The GEO method for cleaning out your tank! I have emptied and now refilled ours with some Borax (water softener) and some washing soda (arm and hammer product) and some bleach to see if this will do the trick.

We had this same problem over the weekend, We dumped them and they still said 2/3 full. Even the fresh water tank said it was 2/3 and we didn't fill it up at all. But I too kept hitting the button to see what it said!!! LOL
