Breaker tripping

The 30 amp breaker was tripping at campground pedestal added a 50 amp adapter and plugged into 50 amp and it started to trip main inside camper breaker (twice). The plug and adapter had got hot and was melted / stuck together. Dose this sound like its in camper or the campground pedestal? Never had a issue plugged up at home on a 30 amp breaker. Any ideas?

Camper, once you switched to the 50 amp you said the main breaker in the camper tripped. Also the melted plug shows an overload situation.

The melted plug would be due to a marginal connection at the pedestal and close to max current draw. Campground pedestals are notorious for worn out connectors at the pedestal. If the breaker inside the camper is now tripping, you have an overload condition. Running the AC and any other high wattage appliance (such as a microwave) will put you on the edge of an overload. If the electric water heater kicked on while those two are running, you'd trip the breaker.

Your melted plug will also need to be replaced. The plug has been marginalized and no doubt there's some pin discoloration and oxidation. Amazon carries a variety of these plugs.

Lets start at the beginning. What was the voltage at the pedestal? Do you use an EMS?

First, is your trailer rigged for 30A or 50A?

What appliances are on when it trips? If none then you have a problem somewhere. Turn off all and plug into the shore. Then turn on (and off) one at a time until it trips again. Then you know which one is the problem

If you have things like space heaters or blow dryers running along with the AC they can cause the circuit to trip as well.

If your adapter and your RV cord plug were melted together that would indicate an issue there, most likely your cord plug. If you tripped the 30 amp on the pedestal you were pulling more power than the 30 amp, this was confirmed when your RV 30 amp breaker tripped. Its not unusual to have the pedestal breaker trip before the RV breaker does. I would check your cords plug and replace if you see indication of arching on it.

Not sure of all the details as a friend who is thinking of buying the camper (2010 Jayco 26BH) was using it. All was working fine untill campground started to fill up then the 30 amp breaker at pedestal tripped several times. Not sure of how long the time frame. Campground owner said it had tripped before in the past so they used a 30 amp to 50 amp adapter to plug into the 50 amp plug. While plugged in to the 50 amp the camper breaker tripped several times. Not sure how often and what load conditions at this time. He did not notice plug until leaving. The breaker in camper was not warm to the touch.
We had camper plugged up at home for two days (30amp outlet just for the camper) had AC running all day while cleaning up inside and had no issues.
We had AC on and refrigerator lights but nothing else.

Most likely as other campers came in and started using the AC etc..the voltage dropped. Thus may cause your RV to use more amperage to compensate hence tripping your breaker. You poor plug most likely caused the me 'll ting of the plug to adapter. Replace the plug if any indication of damage. Using an EMS may of cut the power before any damage occurred. Good luck.

Not sure what the voltage was at the pedestal. Do not have all the details.

An EMS will tell you the voltage. I don't recall what the low range is where my EMS will cut off when it sees a problem from the pedestal. One suggestion on hot days when everyone is running the A/C and the voltage is low...turn the water heater electric off and run it on gas to lower your amp draw.

I suspect the problem was the low voltage condition. If I was interested in buying this camper, as long as the 30a cord and plug were good, I don't see any problems if all the appliances work.

Sounds like the trailer breaker did its job when the overload occurred.

It's pretty common in many older cg's for the voltage to drop due to excessive load between a empty cg and a full one. The power source is not built for the high current draw of newer campers.

Same as the wifi.
