Broken shade

Do we have to take our 5th wheel into the dealership to repair a broken shade? The string broke.

If it's under warranty, you certainly could take it to the dealer, if you want to.

I fixed a blind on my trailer (the horizontally pleated sort of corrugated blind) and it was very easy. If I recall correctly, the blind cord came with some instructions. I got the cord here. They've got lots of colors.

I agree with RVHiker. If under warranty, have the dealer do it. If not, the kit, plus patience and a large working area will enable you to do it yourself. There are lots of videos on You Tube and RV forums to show how this is done. My wife and I repaired one of our blinds in May. Works fine, now. Good luck!

How do you get the decorative side curtains and top off so you can get to the shades to take them down? I have to replace the broken string.

The top valance should have a couple of brackets with screws holding it to the wall. I'm not sure about the side curtains, but they may just be attached to the valance. Look up underneath, and you should see the metal brackets. Take out only the screws that are vertical into the valance, since they are easy to get a screwdriver on.

Thanks I got the top valance off and yes the side curtains are attached to it. I've watched a video on how to replace the cords but now I can't get the clear plastic end pieces off of the shades. Grrrr By the way this is the wife and I'm really trying to get this done before the husband gets home and see me taking apart the 5th wheel!
