Cannot stop electric stairs from retracting

Just pulled into a CG for a two week stay, and the electric stairs would not stay in the extended position with the door closed. No matter which position the stair switch was in they retracted when the door was shut. I even opened up the switch and disconnected the wires, but this made no difference. I was only able to keep them extended by disconnecting the power coupling under the stairs.

Anyone else have this happen, or know a better solution long term?

It sounds like the switch operates a relay at the stairs. For now open the door so the stairs are extended and then go to the stair motor and disconnect the power there. At some point you'll have to get an electrician or a good RV tech that knows how to troubleshoot the system. In the mean time try to get a schematic from Jayco or the stair operator manufacturer.

If the ignition key is placed in the run / acc position, my stairs will retract - EVEN if the stair switch is off and the door closed. Did you have an item wired into your accessory circuit on the coach?
