Can't get water pump to siphon for winterizing 24K

Have the short hose connected to city water connection and other end in antifreeze. Have the handles on 2 and 4 for winterizing. The water connections are on by the water filter area. All other water connections are off. Turned the water pump switch on and nothing happens. Tried to prime pump by opening low drain water drains and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. Close low point drain valves. Pour some water or antifreeze in to the siphon hose and raise it up above the level of the connection. Then turn the pump on with the hose in the gallon of antifreeze. This should prime the pump. You should also hear the pump running. If not you have an issue with either power to the pump or the pump itself.

Sounds like the wrong approach. Most trailers you do not add the antifreeze from the city water connection.

Go inside the the TT, find the water pump. There will be two valves. One to shutoff flow from the FW tank, the other is to open flow to a short antifreeze pickup hose. Find the hose and valves. Place the hose into the jug, and suck away.

Does the filter screen need to be turned around so that the cone is pointing out of the city water connection inlet?

Is this a trailer, 5th wheel, or RV? If a trailer, then you do not normally use the city water connection with the water pump. There is usually a valve near the pump that has a piece of tubing attached to it. You put the tubing into your anti-freeze and then open the valve. When you turn on the pump it will draw the anti-freeze into the system.

X2 pump pulls from your tanks, not city water connection.

Sorry for any confusion. This method applies to our Jayco motorhome.

The information I noted above is for a Melbourne Motor Home that has a Utility Center. A 24K is a Melbourne not a TT or 5er.

Some newer trailers/motorhome/fifth wheels have a station with valves and do use the city water connection to winterize. Mine does.

Not when it comes to winterizing on most new units. There is a mult-valve manifold that has you use the city water connection for sanitizing lines and winterizing.
