Coleman thermostat
Question: On a jayco jay flight tt, when running a/c what is the proper settings on a Coleman-Mach thermostat.

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you are asking.
I set my thermostat to cool, and choose the desired temperature and fan speed.

Yep. Need more context to answer this question. Are you having trouble finding the right settings to get the AC to run?

If I set the thermostat to cool, do I go to auto or do I go to fan speed either high or low. YouTube said NOT to use auto I believe because you could freeze up your coils in the a/c.

That is totally up to you. Auto means when the AC hits the temp you have set it will shut off, leaving the switch to ON means when the AC hits the temp you have set the compressor with click off but the fan will still blow to circulate the air.
In regards to the HI/LOW thats pretty self explanatory.

We seldom use the AUTO setting. Read never.
We normally use the LO fan speed because it is a little quieter and that's where wife wants it. It's a little quieter that way, on two counts.

Good to know.
I always use auto, but have no good reason. I just haven't really played around with it or read the manual. I thought if you left it on 'ON' vs 'AUTO', the AC would just keep running until it was shut off, whereas with 'AUTO' it would respond to the thermostat setting. I guess I have that wrong. I guess I should read the manual. I haven't had any coil freeze issues on 'AUTO'.

Happy wife = Happy Life! I couldn't agree more!
I have a bunch of recovery work to do. We got lost in the rain on our way home from our last trip resulting in me having to back up a windy country road about a mile or so with my wife outside as a spotter!!! She was NOT happy then...

I don't know about the YouTube statement about freezing the coils. I recently changed our Coleman Mach over from manual to thermostat controlled and the new control board included a freeze sensor you place in the coils to prevent exactly that occurrence.

You have peaked my interest on this statement with regard to the freeze sensor. What thermostat do did you get?
Heck maybe mine has this and i just don't know. If it does it's not working b/c ours froze up this weekend in Bristol. I had it on AC - AUTO - HI. And 72 Degrees.

The freeze sensor came with the control module that installs in the intake plenum. It's not part of the thermostat. If you take off your interior plenum cover you should be able to look up into the intake side and see the control board, it mounts on two screws in the intake plenum. You should see 5 or 6 wires coming from the thermostat (depending on whether you have the heat option in your AC unit) and two wires leading up to the sensor on the coils.
