Correct TV Antenna Lube

I am trying to do some much needed maintenance on the Jayco Eagle Superlite 5th wheel we have owned for 2 years. Trying to get as much info out of manual as possible and from reading the forums. Am confused by "dry" silicone lubricant spray. All I find says there aren't any actual "dry" ones out there. What should I be using? Thanks.

I use aerosol silicone spray. It goes on as a liquid but quickly evaporates and the lubricating properties are left behind. I'm pretty sure this is what they mean by "dry". No liquids or oils left behind permanently.

WD-40 makes a "dry lube". I use it all the time with great success.

WD-40 is water soluble and will wash off in rain. Use a Silicon dry lube. Make sure you wipe anyplace you are spraying lube and can get to that you wipe it down with a dry cloth to clean prior to spraying.

You want a PTFE (Teflon) spray.

I believe that is why they were saying to use the dry-lube from WD-40, it isn't the regular WD-40.

That's what WD-40 dry lube is.

Not true. This is what the the antenna manufacturer recommended when I contacted them a few years ago.

Pretty nuch true. WD40 is a quick lube but will evaporate quickly and leave it dry again. Correct way to lube the roof ant is with a spray silicone. Do it first thing in the Spring and again in the Fall and you will be fine.

There is nothing special about a lot of RV stuff and they do not necessarily need an RV specific product, unless of course you want to enrich the RV supply companies.

They should have called the PTFE lube WD-41.

Many of us have Winegard Sensar antennas. The recommended lubricant for those is "any silicone lubricant spray". Here is a link to the Winegard Sensar Manual which discusses lubricants for the antenna. My belief is that the silicone spray referred to is regular liquid silicone spray.

And the lube war goes on! Silicone spray or Teflon spray it is............or let the rain moisten everything (water is lube too).

Use Liquid Wrench Silicone Spray. Goes on wet, carrier agent dries leaving dry silicone lube behind. Lube contains "Cerflon" which is Teflon on steroids. WD40 is average at best. Liquid Wrench has been doing specialty lubes for decades, long before WD40.
You can find LW at Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts.
