Fridge propane will not light
Can't get the propane to light on the fridge. I can smell the propane so that is not the problem. It seems to only spark one time then stop. Burner tube is clean. Fridge works on 110v... Suggestions? I have an appointment with the dealer in a couple weeks and would LOVE to avoid that.

It could be air in the lines. Turn on the burners on the stove and let them burn for a few minutes. That will bleed the air from the gas lines.

It seems like I saw a spark. I need to put a tester to it.
I can smell propane.

Does the inside light come on when on battery?

I had an issue with the Norcold refrigerator on a previous camper never switching to propane when the A/C power was cut. It turned out to be a bad circuit board on the refrigerator. However, I never smelled propane.

I had that problem with the refrigerator in my slide in camper. I contacted the dealer and was told that the distance between the spark and the gas port was either too close or too far away. I adjusted the contact distance (it was too close) and it has worked perfectly since. This was a Coleman fridge.

UPDATE:
- Fridge works fine on AC
- interior light comes on using 12v
- when I turn it on for gas the solenoid valve opens
- the ignitor does NOT "click" at all; so the burner is not getting a spark to light the propane
- everything seems clean
- I know propane is present
I'm going to replace the "Spark Sense Electrode ($20)" first and if that doesn't work I'm thinking about replacing the power board ($120).
What else could it be?
thanks
Bob

Yes, stove works fine. I don't believe propane is the issue. The fridge does not "click" (hence, no Elec spark) at all when it is attempting to ignite the propane.

If you are getting propane try lighting the pilot with a lighter. That will at least confirm the fridge is working properly and it is just something with the ignition system.

I did change out the igniter ($13) and that was not the problem. I was able to light the burner with a match and that worked. The fridge does work on propane, you just meet to manually light it. Was able to find a video on YouTube by Norcold that shows how to trouble shoot certain parts of power board with a multi tester. Going to try that in the next week.

Did you adjust the ignitor closer to ground to look if it will spark and did you check of your ignition coil puts out power? Well at least you carry a spare part.

Agree with ALJO. The igniter must be properly adjusted to get the spark in the right place at the right time and at the correct intensity. I've seen this many times on industrial boilers, if it is out of adjustment, there won't be any fire....

I have not put a tester to the power board yet (this weekend). Igniter is supposed to be 1/8' - 3/16" from burner and mine is in that range.

I finally replaced the power board and it IMMEDIATELY fired up. I purchased the board from Amazon for around $115.

Had same problem in our 31ds. Spark but would not light. Turned out to be the gap between the igniter and the gas. should be about 1/8th inch. Adjusted it and it worked perfectly.
