Furnace Maintenance

After several months of winter travel and much furnace operation during this time, I am thinking some furnace maint. should be done.
Due to its location I can barely reach the furnace to perform exterior cleaning. Is removing the furnace the only option to clean and inspect the workings of the furnace, or am I missing something.

I am no expert but this is my thinking. The furnace runs on propane which is very clean burning as long as the air/fuel mixture is right. If your furnace exhaust is clean and not sooted up, I doubt you need to do any more than possibly vacuuming the dust around it. Personally, I don't ever pull the furnace out unless there is an issue but we use it only a few times a year. If you do pull it out to clean, you will find more construction debris around it than anything else.

There was a basic article on appliance maintenance in the June 2017 issue of Trailer Life that I just read this morning. It says most maintenance procedures are done by a certified RV tech as the burner-assembly often needs to be removed for cleaning/inspection. Their advice for the DIYer, keep up with the cleaning and dusting around the vents to help the furnance function more efficiently but leave the removal to a certified tech.
