How do you adjust a slide awning by Carefree?

We've searched the internet for instructions on how to tighten up the slide awning, but have been unable to find anything besides installation instructions for a new ones. It sags and collects water. We've used the beach ball method with some success when parked for long periods, but it's not really fixing the problem. Anyone know where we can locate the instructions on how to do this? The manuals do not include this info. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's tricky since you actually have to add a complete turn or two to the roller tube and if you've never installed an awning it could get you in trouble. Not a matter of a simple adjustment.

Like Grumpy said above. It's like the old window shades that you had to get a few extra turns on to tension the spring in the tube. Same principle only significantly larger and more torque then I would be comfortable handling.

Some things are better left to the dealers. This one of them. Also the sagging may not be helped much and could lead to tear out from the side wall attached spline if you put too much on it.

My main slide collects water and I just bump it in half way and out again to release it when sunny out.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for these replies Grumpy and 3'senough. I knew I could count on this Forum for help! We may just live with it until the day comes we need to replace. We really don't need an accident hindering our trips!

Carefree states in the manual that some water collecting is normal and that they recommend bringing the slide in a few inches at a time to get rid of the standing water.Thats all i do,i have seen where people add things under there to keep them higher, but honestly the reason i bought them was so i didnt have to climb up there to clean and mess with anymore
