Issue filling fresh water tank

We have a new Jayco 5th wheel that we were filling the fresh water tank. The water went straight to the black tank and did not fill the fresh water tank. We are pretty certain we have valves opened/closed appropriately. Any ideas?

sounds like it wasn't plumbed correctly from the factory The fresh water tank and black should not be interconnected I would contact the dealer and have them resolve the issue Also contact Jayco and inform them of the problem

Or maybe you have a fresh water flush system on the fifth wheel unit and that's what you connected to. The connection for the fresh water/city water should be clearly marked. If none of this helps try and post a picture or two of your connections.

I think "bed" may have it. You don't say which TT you have but our 5th has 2 water connections next to each other. One for the fresh tank and the other for the black rinse.
I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting any water after connecting the water.
Figured it out when the black tank geysered out the toilet.

These stories lately have been getting ridiculous. Must be few dealers actually do a thorough and complete PDI. I know mine didn't.

sounds to me like you hooked up to the wrong connection, specifically the tank flush for the black tank.

You were correct. Embarrassed after getting a call from our salesman that it's exactly what we were doing. All is good now.

Lesson well learned. At least you didn't have any negative results. Bet you won't forget which connection is for what tank. Enjoy the new rig
