Leaking emergency exit window

I recently purchased a 2003 Jayco Kiwi Too 30t. I was told before buying that it had a water leak in one of the windows. The window in question is the side emergency exit window on the lower bunk. It is a Hehr window. The water pools in the lower channel. We received 3.5 inches of rainfall last night and I was in the TT looking for drips and could see none. I can't find anything visibly wrong with the interior or exterior of the window. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I didn't see any weep holes on this window that could be plugged. Thanks.

First.... Welcome to the forum.

I have no experience with your TT or that type of window. However I had a class-B MH that had a leak in a sliding window. Water would get into the channel and overflow to the inside.

My solution was to drill a small weep hole to the outside; crude, but effective. No more leaking to the inside.

Hmmm... my windows have a small slot for a weep hole on either side of the bottom track. Can't tell you how to correct it unless it is a defect. That window is a emergency exit window and that may explain why no weep hole.

I might consider drilling a small hole to allow it to drain outside if nothing can be detected.

Since it does not have a screen and does not open for anything other than exit it might not have weep holes. Open it up and inspect the gasket, looking for cracks, openings or if has become hard, you might want to replace it. Pay particular attention around the hinge. I'd also caulk the outside edges of the frame.


If it was me I'd also pull the inside frame and inspect for water damage to the wall. The sooner you find it and fix it the cheaper it is.

I re read your first post. If you in fact have a leak, by all means pull the window out , inspect and re install with new seals.

Had about the same problem with my storage door. Water would run down side of unit. puddle up on ledge, then overflow edge, and run back into unit. Screws were set wrong. pulling frame down and lower.
