Wow, I'm glad I stuck with this thread! Those are the exact same wheels/rims that are on my 23RB. Now I know what to expect if I need to change a tire. Thanks for teaching me something new. Crap...if your dumb and taught me something where does that leave me in the spectrum?!

I have dealt with this same issue, not on a trailer but on a car. The dang covers would spin around the lug nuts. Took a while to figure out what was going on. Those covers were removed and replaced with proper chrome lug nuts.

Some "engineer" who has probably never changed a tire in his life decided it was a good idea to put cheap tin chrome looking covers on the lug nuts. I hate those "engineers"! It should be a requirement to have some real world experience in the field you are engineering.

That's what I would do. They look better in the long run and a good lugnut x 24 or 36 won't break the bank.

I've run into that problem and found that using a 19mm 6 point socket instead of a 3/4 6 point socket, which is just slightly smaller helped prevent spinning of the decorative cover.

I dropped it off at the dealer today and that was their answer. They had some nice sockets and I guess if you know that it'll work you'd be more willing to push onto the decorative cover and compress it enough to get around the actual lugnut inside. When I tried to use a smaller socket it just felt like it was too tight and wasn't going to fit so I backed off.

Lug Nuts From Costco

I had to buy a full set of 24 lug nuts for my GMC Yukon. Costco had them for less than $1.00 each. Best price around by a margin.

These covers are about as dumb an idea as a screen door on a submarine.

How are you supposed to regularly check your lugs with a torque wrench with these idiot devices on?

Just buy proper chrome lug nuts and call it a day.

I replaced ours with stainless steel lugs from E Trailer for less than the cost of the OEM lugs. Looks good and a 3/4 socket works perfect.
