manual jacks bent on X17Z

Hey guys. I parked my trailer on the extra parking pad that was unleveled. It was leaning to one side. I bent two of the jacks on the right side (when you're looking from the front). The warranty does not cover the jacks. I have some questions for future reference.

Is it easy to replace the jacks myself or do you have any tips you can give me?

I already leveled the parking pad somewhat but for future reference: Can the trailer sit on the wheels when it's not in use or should I add leveling blocks under the wheels as well?

Are you talking about the stabilizer jacks? Like this:
As far as replacing them, they just should be bolted to the frame (with 4 bolts I think). Not a problem to replace.
As far as something under the wheels....I have heard that if you're on gravel or pavement you should be fine. But if parked on dirt to put someting under them.

From what I can tell, a X17Z has the jacks which are made from pressed sheet metal.

On my previous trailer a 2005 Jayco Jay Feather LGT 27P, it had the same jacks. It didn't take long for me to bend those flimsy things either.

I replaced them with BAL telescopic stabilizer jacks. They held up flawlessly and could actually take a load which was helpful in 'tweeking' the level of the camper.

You should always level the trailer by adding a block or something under the wheels. The jacks are not intended to hold the weight of the trailer. They only are intended to stabilize the trailer so it doesn't wiggle when you walk in it.

This is what I was going to say and if you read the manual for the trailer it says to just turn it about a half a turn once the stabilizer jack is on the ground. They are not meant to level... just stabilize the trailer.

Of coarse you could have an "Oh Cr@p" moment like I did recently. The son-in-law was helping me tear down and we forgot to put the rear stabilizers up. When he used the PTJ to put the WDH on, the rear of the trailer bent one of the stabilizers.

Fortunately, we were able to bend it back.

Lol yea I was one of those oh crap moments. Except it was with my old man. I told him "it's not leveled let's put a block under the one wheel and two under the other one so it's level". Then he's like "nooooo you're kidding me this is supposed to hold it. Look" and then I was like sh*t there we go
