My 7 pin cable got sliced
Hey guys. 2nd trip out with our 17 Jay flight 26bh and just got to campground. I unplugged my 7 pin cable from our TV. I see a major slice in it almost through the entire red cable. I'm not sure what to do? Electrical tape it for ride home but how will I be able to replace it? Is it under warranty? I'm assuming it happened while backing into our camping spot. Maybe it got snagged on the wdh. Not sure how to get it out of the way to avoid that going fwd. Should it hang under the wd bars or over them.

If it were me, I would unplug and slice back the sheathing more to assess the damage. Then, I would make sure each wire is not broken, making butt splices where required. Then I would shrink wrap each individual wire or wrap with electrical tape. Then, I would tape the entire bundle of wires, being sure to significantly overlap the area I had cut open. Then, I would test brakes and lights. Actually, do that before taping everything. Then have the cable replaced when home. Good luck. Breathe easy, it isnt insurmountable

As for how to keep the cable out of the way. I put mine over the outside of wdh. In addition, I use a ball lock pin with a spring loaded d-loop on it. I route the cable thought the d loop, which takes some slack out of it. But, it is still free to move during turning.

I opened the bundle up and it's only the red wire. Need to find out what that is for? I need to repair the red somehow but don't have any crimps with me just electrical tape. Will ask around in the am. Luckily We are about 30 min away from home.

Patch it together to get you home and then get one of these type junction boxes and mount it somewhere on the tongue or front underside of the trailer. cut and route your existing wiring to it and put each wire on a terminal and then make up a new cable and plug to the TV. Trailer wiring never seems to gets damaged and you can easily replace the short pc that connects to the vehicle as it always seems to be the part getting snagged, rubbing on things and the plug failing.

If there is no black wire the red wire is the charging wire from the TV to the batteries.

Thanks I saw that online. I don't see brown in my wire bundle though.
I did make it home safely after testing everything prior to leaving.

You need to make sure the red wire is wrapped and isolated. It is the positive cable and will short/blow fuse in the TV if it hits ground.
Search out Silicon Friction Tape. Better waterproof seal and will not unwrap if properly wrapped. Similar to the wrap used on tennis rackets.
I'd also contact Jayco and talk to them about warranty. Suppose to be bumper to bumper for two years.

Jayco won't cover damage.
I rerouted my cable, between the Aframe members, then, popped it out near the tongue coupler. I also wrapped friction tape around the harness anywhere it might touch or rub on the frame. I also wrapped the battery wire harness with friction tape.
Long term, the best thing to do is replace the entire 7 pin wire harness, it will eliminate future headaches. It is easy to do and cheap.

That is why I bring enough stuff with me to be able to make minor repairs. Fortunately, my wife doesn't think it's overkill either. So I don't have to hear- "why do you need all this stuff?"
