New 1007 Pop Up - Bad build
With a ton of excitement, we bought our first new camper. Our last was a 2000 Coleman Seapine that we bought used. It had never been cooked in and they never wore shoes inside. It was cleaner than this Jayco. When our dealer gave us a demo of our camper, the outside light was burned out, the stabilizers were rusty, there were broken boards in the water heater compartment along with garbage and the door would not go into place. Over two weeks later, the door, light, broken boards and stabilizers were fixed. Still excited, we opened the camper this weekend and had a chance to try to load it up. We were surprised by how much cleaning we had to do (my wife shop vaccuumed saw dust out for over 30 minute) and how many mechanical issues there are. Aside from the crooked non sealing door, the scratches on the faux wood work are regrettable, the lights that we haven't used are clearly used (black), the screws are falling out of the bed ends, the window on the door falls down when you shut it, and there is rust on a number of parts. I guess we thought that when we bought a new camper everything would be new.
Welcome to Jayco?

Yep,
That would be unacceptable to me.
Looked used and looks like door has been replaced with the wrong size.
I believe they'd be getting me a new trailer. JMHO

Welcome to the forum. That unit should have never been cleared for sale before the issues were addressed IMO. Dealers are supposed to do a inspection and prep before a customer views a trailer. I wonder if it was at an RV show or used as a demo to have that many issues....still no excuse though.

Looks like someone dropped the ball. I believe you should have a talk with the dealer and express your concern about their pre-delivery prep and inspection on this popup

Agree with all the above. If the dealer refuses to provide you with a new unit, preferably another unit, then I would contact Jayco and ask them to intervene. I'm sure they would not want one of their dealers selling a used unit and calling it new. I'm sure that Jayco will in some way make it right for you. JMHO

WOW that is not a "new" camper. Start at the dealer and go to Jayco if you are not satisfied with what the dealer offers. What year is the trailer?

Not for nothing, but why did you accept delivery? Is this really a new trailer? Shoot Jayco an email with the VIN # and see when this trailer was actually built.

Bet you it was a rental, or loaner and never titled so it was sold to you as new.

Clearly our error was in not being more meticulous in examining our "new" 2013 camper; however, by that time it was already titled to us. The dealer has agreed to fix the mechanical issues, but not switch to an unused unit. Jayco agrees with the dealer. They say, "this unit will not be replaced but we are offering to make the repairs." I believe we were lied to in that the camper was transported to a local show in the middle of the winter. The chemicals used for deicing our roads would explain the premature rust and the use for the 4 day show explains the damage and bulbs. This is far from a "welcome to Jayco" moment. Caveat emptor.

This just shows you have to be vigilant when making a purchase... I would never dream of buying an item like that without going over it top to bottom first.. New or used it does not matter...

BBB if the dealer or jayco doesn't step up to the plate, its a shame they let this unit out the door.
Take care

A shame. Doesn't matter if it's a popup or a million dollar DP, somebody(s) forgot that the product is the face of the manufacturer. Whether a dealer with a sorry pre-delivery prep or shoddy work at the point of assembly, that is just plain sad, and did nothing to create customer goodwill.

That is too bad!
Not sure where you bought it from, but I have had very good luck with the dealer in New Brighten (talk with Eddi he has been the best of the service guys). They have been 5 stars and have fixed everything I have asked, and fixed things I did not know even were broken/out of adjustment. There was one issue that took a few trips as it was periodic issue, but documenting it with photos and a small write up, they were able to fix it right up.
If it was used in the Minneapolis camping show, I would think they should have said so and given you an added discount for the hard use they take during the show.
Send me a PM as I am in your neighborhood.
