Refrigerator Operation

Since buying our new Jayco 195RB we have mostly been camping in cooler weather. This weekend was the exception. It hit 90 several days, and 80 most of the time, down to 70 at night.

In the past we determined the correct setting for the fridge. Those numbers didn't work this time.

At the start, we put stuff in the fridge. I put in an ice tray in the freezer and the water froze in a couple of hours. But the fridge stayed above what we wanted it to be.

However, often in the morning when we got up the fridge temp was back in the appropriate range, or even so cold it froze my wife's cucumber.

In any event, I kept having to change the setting up in the day, and down at night.

The manual for the Norcold was about worthless for troubleshooting. It commented about use in freezing temps, but nothing about when its hot.

Are my observations normal?

Down the road you may want to consider this mod http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f3...ods-35599.html

For now, is the side of the camper the fridge is on facing the sun with no shade? Try operating your fridge in LP mode. The "chimney effect" may help out moving some air over the condenser coil. There is no doubt the heat is affecting your refrigerator.

Yes, its the sunny side. LP or gas provided the same results.
