Replace white trim on canvas for pop out

Hello all! First time poster. Long time browser.

Synopsis:
I have a 2007 Jayco Jay Feather Export 17C that has two queen bed pop outs on each side. I am in the process of acquiring new trim for the canvas for where the canvas attaches to the trailer body with the white "J" shaped trim. (Jayco Part#0181878) I have a local awning shop that is game to remove and resew this trim to my existing canvas. The canvas is in great shape and the only failure has been where the plastic has aged and cracked where the screws are.

Also I am acquiring the white tube seal that goes between the pop out doors and the trailer body and will be replacing this also. (Jayco Part# 0502453) or will be replacing with Jayco part number 0210350 this is the newer design.

1. Has anyone done either of these items before? Offer and tip or advice?
2. Any suggestions for the best way to remove the existing white tube seal for the doors, clean and prep the surface for new installation?

I added some general pictures to this link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/04f7v82wv...CJe5cZNga?dl=0

Thanks in advance for any you can offer!

The best thing I ever did.

Kats,
I did do this repair but it was not me who completed the work. I took out my canvas insert and sent it to the fine people at Bear Creek Canvas: Bear Creek Canvas | Pop-Up Camper Recanvasing Specialists | Spencer WI. I spoke with Ed but everyone in the office is amazing. I would not hesitate to get in touch with them! I cannot say enough good things about them. I only sent the front canvas and I plan to do the back in the coming up off season.

They were so nice and helped me with this trim at an amazing price! The returned work went right back into place just like the original and the new plastic section they used seems to be even more durable than the original part. They knew exactly the failure I was speaking about and are the most knowledgable canvas folks around.

Let me know what else I can do to help and good luck!

Not sure how I (or many others) have missed this. These part numbers are great to have! I have both bunk ends that are cracking and having this done has got to be cheaper than a $400-$500 tent.

Can you tell us where you ordered the part number 0181878 from?

THANKS!!!

During my research I came across this part number in a catalog on jaycorvparts.com.
This was an outfit who helped me identify the actual "J" style hook that was used originally by Jayco. I did not order this part from them as I couldn't find a local shop willing to remove and sew the new trim INTO my existing canvas. Once you get a closer look into the construction there you can tell you need a heavy duty awning/canvas sewing machine.

However, the kind folks at Bear Creek Canvas installed trim that they had in stock on my canvas pop out that I removed from my Ex-Port and shipped to them. I included a return label myself so they didn't have to mess with shipment since they did me a favor by turning it around quickly for me. I didn't even have to order a new complete tent assembly. I found disassembly instruction somewhere on the internets and it was very easy.

Hope this helps.

I was able to order from jaycorvparts.com for .99 a foot. Now have to find someone to sew it in.
