Replacing all tires on trailer
How does one replace ALL tires at the same time in your trailer, tow the trailer to the tire shop and let them deal with it? OR Unmount all wheels at home and take all 4 of them to the tire shop to get replaced?

Take trailer to tire shop. I am too old to remove tires and wheels. The tire shop is geared up for this.

I have done it several ways.
1. Make arrangements to arrive at the tire place early before the lot is full. Coordinated with tire shop. Usually in and out in an hour.
2. Jack trailer up and put one side on jack stands. remove both tires, take them to tire shop. Repeat other side.
I prefer #1. I have done that several times.

I've done it two different ways. One way, I jacked up one side of the trailer and removed those wheels and took them in, then came back, put them back on and did the other side. The second time I just hooked up the trailer and took it to the tire shop. They backed it into one of their bays and did it right there, not even unhooking it from the truck. The second method was far easier.
There's a place close to home that handles both big rigs and passenger cars. They had all sorts of equipment there to handle just about everything.

My plan is to do one or two at a time.
Yes it's a few trips, but I'm not far, and I feel more comfortable doing it myself.
The tire shop I purchased my tv tires from had me come in for "free" rotations.
I would get the truck back with 80psi in the front and 65psi in the rear!
Not the greatest minds doing tire changes! And I've done hundreds of tire changes myself.

Always take the Wheel/Tire assemblies off and take it into the Tire Shop.
I like to do the Torqueing myself.

My tire shop (Discount Tire) has a pretty big parking lot beside it - and LONG air hoses. I just park in the lot, they bring out a racing jack and air wrench and they have the tires off and back on in minutes.

Thank you all.. I'd probably bring the wheels myself and do 2 two trips to the tire shop.

No matter who works on the tires, I always re-torque with my own wrench when I get home and also a few times a year.

I take 2 in at a time and I rotate once a year using jack stands and I jack it up using an 8 ton bottle jack.

Getting ready to do this soon myself. Have never really taken it to someone yet for tires and I'm not so sure they know the proper way to lift it. So I think I'll do it myself the first time. Like mentioned above, one side at a time.

1) Lift a tire off the ground with the hydraulic jack under the spring perch.
2) Place a safety stand as close as possible to the jack and lower the axle on the stand
3) Repeat on remaining tires
4) Remove all 4 tires, drop 'em at the tire shop on the way to work next day
5) Pick up new tires and wheels at lunch time
6) Install tires and wheels
7) Lower each wheel off the stands
8) Go for 20 mile ride
9) Re-torque lug nuts
Simple and easy!

Do the axles rest directly on the jack stands? I thought I read somewhere that you shouldn't jack your unit off the ground using the axle, but is it OK to rest the unit on a jack stand using the axle?

One thought, if you have Dexter Torflex axles and you take it to a tire shop, make sure they DO NOT jack it up by the axles, which is most likely what they will try to do. Tire shops specialize in car tires. I'm not convinced that they know how to deal with the various types and sizes of consumer level trailers.
All my trailers have had Torflex axles. I've always set my axle mounts on blocks and took the wheels in separate to have tires mounted.

Don't forget to break the lug nuts before you take all the weight off them.

I use 2 20ton bottle Jack's and take the wheels to discount tire. I also use an impact wrench to take them off. I am lucky to have a flat paved parking area large enough to do this type thing. I also have a son-in-law right next door.

I always take mine off two at a time.
Then Check other things like bearings and brakes while they are off.
