Roof Maintenance Question

I am a few months into ownership of my first travel trailer - 2010 X213. I was up on the roof today looking over everything and have a question about caulking maintenance.

I have no leaks at all but would like some opinions on the overall health of the caulking on the front end on the roof. See picture.

Should I run a few strips of the eterna bond tape over this or leave it alone or put more caulk on it?

I just dont really know if I should do anything if there isnt an issue but dont want to neglect anything to cause an issue.

Thanks.

That looks like it has not been touched ever. Close inspection and self leveling caulk/ cleaning. If you want to be done with it lay a strip of Eternabond over it.

I agree in your observation that I dont think it has been touched. I have a roll of the eternabond tape ready to go. Should I scrape off the old caulk or just go over it with a few layers of the tape?

If you look on Amazon, Eternabond has a product called Seam Eliminator. It's a 10' roll and its 6" wide. I put it on our TT this summer. It worked great. Here is the link here.

Most people scrape the high spots with a plastic putty knife, being very careful to not damage the membrane. Clean it per manufacturer recommendations.

I bought a spray can of cleaner with my eternabond purchase that has lasted a long time. Just a spray on a cloth and wipe all debris off. It does not all have to be removed.
I purchased a roll of 4" and a 25 ' roll of 6" material for the front seam. You can also run 2 over lapping rows of 4 inch material.

And also use the Eternabond roller, I almost didn't buy it at $20 but glad I did. This thing weighs about 2# and does a great job putting pressure on the tape to create a good seal, when rolling near the edge you can see the adhesive pushing out letting you know it will stay tight.

I had a small wooden wall paper seam roller that also does a good job.

Good point. Applying pressure is an important part of the installation. Also, make sure not to stretch it when applying.
