Safety - Propane Hoses
Everyone, please go check your propane hoses. Specifically where they meet the propane bottles.
I was getting ready for a short weekend trip on Friday. Turned on the bottles to purge the system of any air and check the fridge/water heater/stove/heater like I always do. Everything was fine so I went inside. I can out a few minutes later, went into the trailer and could smell propane pretty bad. First thing I did was went to the tanks to turn them off and found they were both leaking. Just past the green connector where the black hoses meet there is a black gasket. Both of mine were leaking. My trailer is not even two years old. I do live in Arizona, but I have had other trailers/rv's and have never seen this. My propane bottles are covered by a white plastic cover.
My dealer didn't have any technicians in on Black Friday. They had a couple of replacement hoses luckily. I had to buy the hoses on my dime, but will be contacting Jayco for reimbursement on Monday and to let them know what happened. This could have been a real problem if it had happened as I was driving down the road or away from the trailer while camping.
