Sewer. Gas smell

2012 Superlite,31.5 RLTS.
We are experiencing an odor emitting from the bathroom shower and sink, particularly after using the shower. I have drained and flushed the holding tanks twice, and used 3x the recommended cleaning solution. I'm thinking it may be a venting problem, but hate to start replacing the factory vents before considering other options. Have also disconnected the outside sewer lines to the RV.
We are all set up and living in the unit for the summer,so bringing to a dealer is my last option.
Any thoughts?

You may have trouble with one of the vent devices uder your sink an ASTVD is more than likely installed there and can malfunction. I believe mine is not sealing and causing smells to occur.

Thanks for your reply. What is an ASTVD ? What does it look like, and where should I look for it?

We have a 2012 31.5RLTS as well and have noticed that after a day or 2 out we get what I would call a musty or mildew type of odor sometimes. This trip I put some black tank chemical in the bathroom sink and had no odor that I noticed. I'm gonna have to look into this ASTVD thingy a bit further.

Thanks for posting this.

We had this same problem this last trip. When we dumped I placed a bit of PineSol and water in the tank. Let’s see if it helps at all. I might go up on the roof to ensure the roof top vent is clear of any potential blockages.

OK! Thank you Txarvee for the PDF ,I learned a lot about the sewer system.
So the fix was easy. Went on the roof, removed the vent covers and found two of the three sewer vent pipes were to long and were right up against the cap, so no air flow. With my Demmel tool, removed about 1/4 " of pipe re-installed the caps, caulked, and it seems to be working.
So thanks again.

We are having the smell in our new 2012 351 RLTS. Went on the roof to check the vent, BUT didn't actually take the cover off and look. Guess I will this weekend.
Thanks
