Shredded 50amp cord

Hello,

Just got a call this morning that while mowing the lawn around the RV's they accidentally ran over my power cord and shredded it. Before getting a new 50amp cord I thought I would see if there were any thought on repairing the one that was cut up.
I though I could just splice the two good sections back together.

I would get a new one on who ever chopped it up. Save the old one amd maybe put terminals on it for an extension cord.

I wouldn't. Especially since it was their screw up. If someone hit your truck you wouldn't try to fix it yourself with sheet metal and rivets. Their mistake = their fix. Get a quote from the dealer and go from there.

X2 -- There's no way to know if there's internal damage to the wiring where the cable was stretched or kinked when the lawnmower blades hit it. I'd replace the entire cable and sell the old one for scrap. Having a power cable go up in smoke wouldn't be much fun, especially at 3 o'clock in the morning.

When the mower hit it, it could have possibly yanked at the cable all the way to where it goes into the trailer, or to where it plugged in to the receptacle. Better safe than sorry.

You really want to take a chance with a power cord that big? Get a new one...

A damaged 50a cord can be a dangerous thing, especially if on of the neutrals or grounds is damaged. Also the sheath can allow moisture in and no telling what could happen.

Replace it.
