Slide inching out while under way
We're going to be home in a few days from our four-month trip, but for the last several days we've had to stop every 50 miles or so and bring our door-side slide in. It has only crept out from 2-4 inches (at the bottom); we haven't given it a chance to find out how much it WILL creep out if we leave it long enough. (2009 Jayco 35RLTS fifth wheel.) The slide goes in and out without any other problems.
Natch, we're out of warranty.
We'll be taking it in to have it looked at when we get home, but has anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do?

I would bring the slide in all the way and install a rod on each end of the slide on the inside to wedge against the outer wall as a mechanical stop, holding the slide from creeping out. Our last camper came with them from the manufacturer They recommended them

Some slide-outs have travel bars you install/remove to prevent the slide-out from "sliding out" when traveling. Here is a picture of mine. My slide-out is 14 feet long and has two travel bars, but only one is shown in the picture.
If you purchased your RV used and it uses travel bars, they might be missing or stored somewhere in the RV. A call to Jayco Customer Service should get you the definitive answer as to whether your slide-out uses travel bars.

Đepending on which slide mechanism was used the brake handle on the motor may have moved and needs to be tightened, I had that happen on our bedroom slide.

You either have the mech. with the brake on it (and it's not working) or you need the travel bars because you don't have the brake on the Mech.

My rig has an electric brake on the slide motor. It is on and releases when power is applied to operate the slide motor. I am not aware of any adjustment.
There are many methods of operating slides. It is hard to group their individual operation into a short paragraph.
You can make travel bars easily with PVC or 2x2 lumber.

I had this problem late last year on my 2008 Designer. Turned out that the brake that attaches to the end of the slide motor had failed. Ended up replacing the whole motor/brake assembly as my repair facility was unable to purchase the brake alone. Total cost was something north of $300, as I recall. I briefly considered slide braces inside the rig, but didn't want to mess around with hauling them around, removing, inserting, etc. I also had some feedback from friends who used them and had experienced some damage to the slide trim.

What brand of slide out system is on your coach? The DW and I have the schwintek system. We had that exact issue on our cross country trip home after purchase. The culprit on our system was a loose power connection to the Slide-Out In Wall Slide Control. Once I found the loose connection and then bending the female connector to close the gap of the connector with pliers, we were good to go.
