Slide Topper Preference

I'm looking into installing a slide topper on our new to us 2010 Jayco FW.
It's a 29.5 RKS with one 150 inch slide.

I will do the install myself.

My question is in regards to the brands and materials used in the topper.
In particular the weather shield. One company offers this in either vinyl or metal.
I assume the metal is aluminum, and it is more expensive.

In my mind the vinyl might be more forgiving of rubbing a tree branch were the metal might bend. Of course there will probably be other damage if I am that close to trees etc.

Just looking for other thoughts and experiences before I purchase.

Consider the amount of wind you get where you plan on camping. I decided against adding a topper to mine exclusively for that reason. If I get tired of climbing the ladder every time I move, I may reconsider, but for now (for me) the value added isn't really there. Most of the time, where I camp, if debris are hitting the top of my slide, it's going to be too windy for me to use the topper anyway. Just something to consider..

The trailerlife website has a good article and video, or pictures anyway, on both the vinyl and metal options if you haven't seen it. Easy to google that one.
