Slideout motor fell off

Yup thats right it fell off. had the DW go to put the slide it today when we were packing up an all it did was slip the clutch an click. So i went in an looked under the couch to see what was up an there it was laying on the floor was still hooked to the shafs to the gear drives but the screws that hold it to the wall had pulled out

.Tried to put the screws back in but they were stripped out(big suprise, not).Let me tell you its fun laying on the floor holding it in place as the DW inches it back in so you can go home. To me it looks like a bad design why put 4 screws in thin alum an think they are going to hold why not put a bracket to the floor to an have it held in two spots not just one( i am going to mod it so that it will have a bracket to the floor now). Guess the dealer can fix this to tomorrow when he's here fixing the awning motor at the house..I will get some pics an put them up of the before an after..

I agree, very poor mounting practice for a drive motor assembly for this type of application.

Wow....sure seems to be Q.C. problems with some of the 2010's and 2011's for various reasons. I am the biggest Pro-Jayco guy out here but starting to wonder whats going on as are some others on this forum. I still have not had a single issue with my 2008 and have considered trading up to a 2012 313, but may be wise to keep mine as it's been trouble free so far.

I'm still planning on buying a Jayco simply because they have the only floor plan I like but I'm also concerned with the increased number of Q.C. issues. I'm also disappointed with they way they cheaped out on many items in 2012.

Eagle 330RLTS. I have a lifetime of "stuff" that has to be disposed of before I even think about pulling the trigger.

I think Jaycos Q.C. has gone way down. It seems like Jayco is into quantity instead of quality. My 330rlts is proof of that.

Looks like that heat or A/C hose underneath in picure 2 ripped when the motor fell on it as well. Creating yet another repair issue...

A bit off topic (apologies in advance), but, after watching the Jayco "watch it being built" video posted here a while back, I can't imagine the CQ problems that are going to arise. As fast as that trailer was built and the lack of compassion and precision that were being used, I'm not suprised there aren't more issues within every/any model.

So far, I have used my slides 42 times this year and I'm not done yet. A "quick fix" will almost certainly add to a repeat failure. You can band-aid the issue or you can correct the problem. Jayco can keep it from becoming a problem at minimal cost. I know that all these nickel and dime corrections translate to a higher price tag for new models but you really do get what you pay for.

Well the dealer came an "fixed" it. All they did was move it over an inch an rescrewed it to the wall. Had the DW run it in an out a few times while I watched it an WOW does this thing move up an down. It must move about 2in depending on which way you r going. It is only a matter out time before it really does some damage. This winter it will deff get a new bracket to hold it from moving at all(needs to be fastend to the floor not the wall). As far as not putting the slide out that much we did 45 days of camping that means this was in an out 90 times not including the times at home to clean an when loading for more room. If your slide motor is under your couch take a look at it next time you put your slide in or out an see how much this thing flexes. Will get some pics when i get the new bracket made..

It seems they use different slide mechanisms on some models. Mine has the slide mechanism under the couch but it looks entirely different then yours in the pics. It is a rack and pinion system that seems much sturdier. It also only extends out about 16" as it is a small shallow slide.

Hey Crabman, mine the motor sits in the middle with a shaft coming off each side that runs out about 3ft to the drive gears. Mine also is a shallow slide that only goes out about 16in too, might have more weight that a dinnette an couch, as in mine its the couch an kitchen.. I'm going to try to get a video of it going in an out just so everyone can see how much this thing moves..
