Small Staples or Finish Nail

What exactly does Jayco use to fasten the finish material in the coach interior? I am mostly interested in knowing what it used to attach the decorative slide out fascia/surround. It is some kind of ultra light pressed wood product. Is it a kind of staple or a nail? Has anyone replaced them? Ours are coming loose, and I am not about to go to the dealer for that. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The trim is usually mdf covered with a vinyl coating and stapled in place. The staples are usually 1" to 1 1/4". They are incredibly hard to remove. Even if the trim is right off it is near impossible to push or pull the staple out. If you remove the trim just cut off the ends of the staples and leave them in place. You will create more touch up work than its worth by trying to remove them. I have used finishing nails to re nail the trim in place but I suggest predrilling the nail holes. Mdf is very dense and the nails might bend again causing touch up work. Also the nails might not hold the trim securely. I would use a trim screw that have a smaller head, pre drill the holes and the heads can be countersunk and covered with a furniture crayon or paint.

Thank you! That is good stuff. I will see what I can find in the way of finishing nails. Your tip to cut them rather than fight with them is a good idea. I will heed your advice.

Jayco used about 1M staples in my HTT, I would assume yours is made the same way.

When I did a bunch of remodeling/mods, I used my brad gun. They have been holding up great for the past 5 years.

Any staples that I could not easily pull out, where cut off, and tapped in.

I have used a brad gun with 1.25" or 1.5" brads. Just break off or leave the old ones.

Ditto on the color stick. We use a Cherry one and it is harder to see than the factory ones.
