Static shock when waxing trailer...

Just wondering if anyone knows how to prevent the static shock that I get when I wax the trailer? This happens after the wax is off and I am "buffing" the surface with a towel. The shock is fairly strong, like walking across a carpeted floor in the winter time. Getting shocked like this, dozens of times while waxing the trailer is not fun! My trailer has smooth sides, Filon I think. No it is not an electrical issue, I check that the first time it happened.

Make sure the ground strap is connected and not disconnected.

What ground strap? Are you talking about the power cord?
I suppose I could tie a ground wire between myself and the trailer frame, then make sure the chassis is connected to earth through the electrical cord.

Unplug power and try waxing again. If you do not get a shock, then you know your are getting a shock from your power cord or outlet.
If you do not have a proper ground on the outlet or your electrical cord, You are getting what is commonly called "Hot Skin" by not having a proper electrical ground.

I think you have just created your own Van de Graaff generator. Try changing the material of your buffing cloth and see if it changes the charge buildup.
