trailer tire replacment for 2012 pinnacle 35 LKTS
can I replace orig tires with a HD E rated truck tire like I use on my truck. 235/85 R 16 Load range E ? I cannot see replacing with a G rated Goodyear tire for $350.00.

Off the top, you would be giving up cargo carrying capacity, via the lower load capacity of the Load Range E tire. Changing tires from ST to LT tires is done a lot, since most ST tires are manufactured in China and may not have the greatest reputation for longevity. The Goodyear G614 RST (the tire I think you refer to for $350 ea) is a Load Range G tire with a 3750 lb. rating. Think going to a Load Range E LT tire would take you down to around 3042 lb. capacity per tire. Michelin Ribs or Bridgestone Duravis tires are a popular choice in a Load Range E tire, but again, they have lesser load capacity than Load Range G tires, and while they have a stiffer sidewall construction, are still not quite the same as an ST tire.
I do feel your pain with the cost of the Goodyear G614 though. The fifth wheel we traded for our 2013 White Hawk had the G614. I had replaced them for just under $1300............and that was three years ago. I can "shoe" the White Hawk all the way around for a little more than the price of a single G614. Carlisle and Greenball (both made in you know where) are the only other choices I know of for a Load Range G ST tire. Good luck with your decision.

We changed our Pinnacle's ST 10 Ply Load Range "E" tires to LT Load Range "G" 14 Ply Steel "G" tires about a year ago and have had no problems.
We went with the Sailun LT G Rated, and yes I know they are made in "You know where"
Sailun makes large truck tires carried by many truck stops accross the county.
I was impressed with the construction and quality of the Saliun tire.
Pricing is resonable at about $223.00 each

All China tires are probably not all bad although I have 4 almost new marathons out there that would be good training equipment for the local high school football program.
Something to consider.
ST tires are rated at 65 mph so they have a higher weight rating than LT tires which are rated at 116 mph.

I hear that Kuhmo makes a great 14 inch trailer tire that comes in a load range D. Do a search on this forum or others. They are made in Korea and have a great rep. I think their 857 is the same as our 205 as far as the profile goes. Have a 99 mph rating.

THANKS FOR THE HELP. I haven't had any problems yet, but in a sharp turn I wonder how these tires stay on the rims.
Answer to Robert; thanks for writing and I too am enjoying our new 2012 35 LKTS. I choose this over a lot of other models and I went from a very heavy Carriage 5 slide that gave good service for 8 hard years, to our Pinnacle. I have a 08 Chevy CC DRW Diesel and it has a chip.

Larry, the Sailun's have been on our Pinancle since January 2012, we have put about 15,000 miles on our Pinnacle since installing the Sailun S637 G Rated Tires.
We have not had any issues with them and they are wearing great, I run 100 PSI in them.
Have not seen any posts on the web of problems with the Sailun Tires, we buy them again without hesitation.

Hi Rob
haven,t answerd you about what tires I finally came up with to put on my 2012 35LKTS. I wore the edge off my right ft tire and was told everything was within specs by Jayco.
I asked why I had a worn tire if everything was OKAY?
I finally had enough of that and went a tire dealer and got more confused. I bought 4 new Samson tires,F rated, and am praying I did the right thing. $200 instead of $350 and they are heavy compared to the origanal

I used the stock wheels, below is the spec off the Sendel Website
I run the tires at 100 PSI (wheels are rated for 100 psi) and do not exceed the 7,000 axle load (wheels are rated at 3580 lbs each)
The Sailun "G" tires are rated at 3,750 at 110 lbs and de-rated to 3,550 lbs at 100 psi
When we had our Pinnacle weighted our heaviest individual wheel was at 3,100 lbs. so we have a little over a 10% safety margin.

My rule of thumb when replacing RV tires is to go up one grade from what the manufacture put on it. All manufactures go as cheap as they can.. and many tend to overload their rigs. The few extra dollars is worth it not to have tire problems on the road.

Rob, I though you and I had the same wheels, but maybe not. I crawled under my Designer prior to replacing the OEM tires with the G614's. My wheels have 110 psi on them. I forget the weight limit, but I am well under it. I have a hair under 3,000 lbs on each wheel.
I just looked at my wheels and they are T02's.

I have the same rule. When I ordered my current trailer I upgraded the tires, axels, and brakes.
