Water leaks into basement doors

I have a fifth wheel with several "basement" access doors. After a light or heavy rain, when I open the doors, water pours out of the insides of the door. I have tried cauling every part possible (even the hinges) but nothing helps. The doors must not have a wood core cuz surely, they would be toast by now. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix the situation (or did you fix it?).

I am pretty sure they have a foam core. I have seen a little drips from time to time that I thought was condensation. Mine have some drain holes in the bottom.

You could try adjusting the latches, but that would depend on if your lids/doors/covers have the adjustable type.

Or maybe a tear in a seal???

Do you keep your doors locked all the time? The larger rear storage compartment door on my GH 31SS will leak if I don't keep it "locked" as the lock is on the top corner of my door, and this keeps the door seal tight enough to prevent leaks during rains, etc.

Grab a hose and start spraying water at different areas. Check the compartment after each test until you find the test(s) which lead to the compartment being wet.

Is water getting into the compartment or are you just seeing water run out when you open the door after a rain? My doors don't leak, but water collects on the door frame at the bottom of the door and when I open it the water runs out. It isn't coming from inside the door. There just isn't a lot of clearance between the bottom of the door and the bottom door frame and water just collects there. No problem for me.

Thanks Ed. I was revisiting this thread to add that mine do not leak inside the compartment but just drain onto the lip and run out on the ground. Sometimes when I open the door, I can see water dripping out of the bottom but after over 5 years, I see no damage to the door.

If it was not made of waterproof materials I am sure it would have disintegrated.

Most of these doors are made by the same company in Indiana. I'll try and find a label on the door and google it.

I do not get water in the compartment. When I open the basement door (hinge at the top of the door so the door lifts up), water pours out from the inside of the door itself. Like Norty said, surely it must not be a wood core door. BUT, it is very irritating cuz a good amount of water runs out of the door for several minutes.
