Water Pump- replacement

I’m thinking of replacing the noisy Shurflo 2088 pump in our trailer, I have read good reviews on the Shurflo 4008 but I see the 4008 has 55psi verses 45psi in the old pump, should I be concerned about this. I also plan to add some flex line on each side of the pump to help cut the noise, I have also added pipe insulation on the lines were ever it contacted the walls of the trailer. I guess if this fails I could add an accumulator tank to cut down on the pump cycling.

I bought the Shuffle 4008 and will be installing it this weekend. This is supposed to be a much better pump, for 1 reason my old pump is 3 chamber and the 4008 is 4 chamber, increasing PSI and reducing noise. I'm also going to install the SHURflo 182-200 Pre-Pressurized Accumulator Tank to help reduce pumping cycling. I'll let you know how my project goes. That old pump noise was driving me crazy.
I don't see the increase to 55 PSI as being a problem at all; I think it will be an asset.

I have not made the change, but mounting the pump on an isolation pad that includes foam will really help, also replacing the hard pex tube with a flexible tubing will cut down a lot of the noise. As you already said you did add a little pipe insulation in areas to help with vibration noises.

Good Luck, post your results.

The 4008 has a bypass feature that routes water back to its input when flow is low to reduce cycling. The say you should not need an accumulator tank with this pump. There is also a pressure adjustment on this pump. A second adjustment regulates the feedback feature. We have this pump on our unit and do not think we need an accumulator. We did need to adjust the feedback setting to eliminate pump cycling when showering. The cycling caused significant water temperature changes as the pump turned on and off. Shurflo customer service was very helpful with this problem. Jayco customer service did not have a solution.
Noise is not an issue for us with this pump. Yes, you can hear it but it is not loud enough to bother us.

The accumulator tank allows you to run the water for short periods of time - washing hands, filling a glass of water, rinsing a few dishes, brushing teeth, etc. - without the pump turning on. Once the tank is depleted the pump turns on. And of course, nothing is free; when you turn the water off the pump keeps running until the accumulator is full again.
