WTH am I doing wrong winterizing? 2017 28BHBE

My old camper took a few minutes to winterize. I'm not sure what's going on with this one?

Drained hot water tank.

Put clear hose in antifreeze.

Turned water pump handle towards clear hose.

Turned handle on water heater to bypass.

Antifreeze comes out cold lines but not hot lines. I think the hot water heater is missing some handles? Shouldn't there be an inlet, outlet and bypass valves? I only have one valve on pump and one on water heater.

Help!!

Look for the other 2. Meanwhile you could drain the wh.

Sounds like you are refilling your hot water heater. Make sure the water heater is bypassed. I have a 2016 - 28BHBE and it still has 3 vales at the water heater under the bottom bunk.

I think this issue is going to come up often on 2017 models and thereafter. It seems they have new valves that work differnt then the system we are all used to. This thread should help explain it as another member was baffled by the same thing and initially we had no answers for him.

The black handled valve should be pointing to the bypass line during the winterizing process and to the water heater during summertime operation.

The upper 3-way connection contains a check-valve so it operates 'automatically'.

Thanks for the replies so far. Not sure if you all seen, but I attached pictures of how it's setup right now.

Cold water did not go through hit water tank. But I can't get hot water to go through bypass.

Pump valve is facing clear hose. Hot water valve is facing bypass.

The 3-way connection at the top of the water heater... Is there a user changeable handle there?

Yes, set it to point at the bypass line too.

No, tap it with a finger a few times. Also insure the water heater drain is open. The automatic valve has to swing to the hot water pipes.

The black and white handles should be pointing at each other. That is what I did on my 2017 28BHBE and it worked fine.

The black and white valve? On the hot water tank? I don't see a white valve unless it's broke off? You can see in the pictures I attached earlier. I got the black valve facing up on bypass valve.

The valve on pump is definitely facing clear hose and it's definitely sucking antifreeze in. I got the cold lines winterized. Just not the hot lines. It's gotta be something at hot water tank that's got me stumped. Think there's another valve on backside where I can't see it?

Isn't that a white valve at the top of the picture showing the water heater? Picture just cuts it off.

My old tt had a check valve on the outlet line of the water heater, only took me 4 gallons of antifreeze one year to figure out the check had stuck and I was pumping antifreeze out the hot water tank drain.

The white valve on top is backwards. The handle is facing the tank. Turn that off and it should complete the bypass.

Explorer03 answered it. My old camper had 3 valves at the hot water heater. The new 2017 28BHBE has two, a white and a black one. Turn them both and winterize. Worked fine on mine.

Kind of makes you feel stupid when things change and I did not get a call notifying me.

I guess they are all trying to keep us on our toes if we get to thinking we can't learn something new!;

I'll look at it again tomorrow. If it is, it's backwards. Valve must be on the backside?

Zoom in on the picture I posted. You'll see the handle faces the tank

Yes. My 2017 X213 is this way - the top valve handle is toward the hot water tank. Turn both valves 90° so the handles are in line with the bypass tube.

The owner's manual hasn't caught up (still shows the 3 valve arrangement), but this forum set me straight. These folks are great!.

Thanks Gman!

I'll get in there tomorrow and get it taken care of. I should have looked a little harder.

Why would they out it on backwards? Oh well..now I know.
