Rule #1: Don't keep $100K in your RV

A couple was robbed of $100,000 worth of Jewelry and 30 handguns from their RV:

Here is the link

My first question is:
Why do you have $100,000 worth of jewelry in your RV?

Why do you have $100k worth of jewelry, period.
That kinda $$ could go for some very nice RV upgrades!!

Guess I'm lucky, DW says, "No boats, no fur coats and no diamonds".

I guess I could see having it with you if you were a full-timer. But then again, I would store most of mine in a safe deposit box. The firearms would be a bit harder to store, but my dad has enough safe space to accommodate my modest collection.

Luckily, DW and I have pretty simple tastes. The only thing we own anywhere close to that value is our house! When we're in the RV, we don't really carry anything of value. I even leave my class ring at home most times. Our wedding bands are about all we have that's worth anything... And those are worth more to us than anyone else, and they're just "stuff" anyway. They can be replaced.

But even if I owned it, no way would I be carrying it with me, even if I were a full-timer.

Uh,

I'm gonna sound Very Canadian and say.....

"Your 'first' question is about the money?..... Not why and how do you fit 30 handguns in an RV? I mean I get a couple.... but 30? Did they plan on one every day for a month?

Ah well I guess, if your carrying 100K, maybe you need a hevilly armed escort LOL"

WOW

Unbelievable how some people think, even us RVers.

And who needs 30 guns in their RV anyway? I carry 27 and I'm perfectly satisfied. Hahaha

Happy RVing,
Jeff

Leave it to a Canadian to raise the ?? about why guns. Have to agree that keeping anything of significant value in your RV is not a good idea. Its really difficult if not impossible to secure an RV if someone wants in bad enough. The secret I guess is to make your RV look like all the rest of them with nothing standing out that screams "rob" me. My TT is nice but pretty much looks like a hundred others in the CG. I keep a fairly messy site per my wife but that may protect us by making the guy with all the fancy stuff outside a much more attractive victim.

The gun ?? has been chewed on in several threads. My experience in talking with others is that a significant percent of campers in a CG have a weapon with them. I believe that is a personal choice and am happy to live in a country where the government can't make that distintion for me.

Maybe they are gun collectors, travel the country going to gun shows, trade jewelry to pay for the guns and put the guns in a safe when they get home. Unfortunately, they got robbed before they got home.

I agree with Bassdogs above.
