I have that battery tester. It seems to work nicely. Just had to laugh at the thought I needed a battery to run it.

As for rechargeable batteries, I have pretty much given up on them. They just do not seem to have the ability to hold a good charge for a long time. I bought some energizer LI batteries a number of years ago for a trip where battery recharging would be difficult. I have been sold on them ever since. I buy them on Ebay, if you take your time, you can get them fairly cheap. I have bought them for as low as 25 cents a battery, typically closer to 50 cents each. But there are many listings for the standard high prices.
