2000 Jayco Eagle Class C 27'

We recently bought a Jayco Eagle Class C. I noticed that where the cab joins the body the silicone bead has deteriorated. There are 4 or 5 screws that come from the body into the cab that have backed out. I don't know if they are supposed to be there or if the previous owner put them there. I haven't found the heads of the screws, they are behind some wall covering. I can't see how screws would do anything to hold the body and cab together. There is obviously is some movement between the body and cab would this be normal? Is there supposed to be caulking or a gasket where they join? We are hoping to be on the road in a month or so but need this sorted before then. Any ideas and information about our problem would be very welcome.
thanks in advance
Harold/Irene

Could you post some pictures? It might help to order to see if the seal is normal.
