Considering trading a 2008 Melbourne 29D for a 2008 Seneca 36 FS. Would love to have the extra room, but most of all, would like the extra basement storage. Wondering if the 5500 Kodiak chassis has problems, and if this unit would be harder to handle than the Melbourne. We love the ease of handling with the Melbourne, but find the strorage to be very limited. The Melbourne has been trouble free for the most part and we do not want to trade up to a problem unit. Would the Seneca owners as well as others, please comment on their experience?
We have a 08 35GS and love it. (35,000 miles so far) Even though its larger it has a better turning radius than the E-450 chassis. (we had a 01 32ft Designer) There is also Kodiak Chassis owners forum on YAHOO where you can get many questions answered. Do a search for Kodiak chassis owners. Many Seneca owners on that forum.
We bought a 36MS earlier this year and love it!! We tow a 24 foot box trailer and it really helps smooth out the ride. As for fuel mileage, it's pretty good for an RV until we get over 60mph. Further over 60mph we go, the faster the mileage drops.
