2008 Seneca water tank fill problem

So I drained my water tank using the low point drain in the driver's side exterior cabinet.

I then hooked up a hose, with a flow meter, to fill the tanks, with the manifold in "city water fill" position.

It took 27 gallons, and water was coming out of the overflow tubes. The owner's manual lists a tank capacity of 80 gallons.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Kevin

Your tank drain is probably on the other side inside the large
passenger side compartment behind the axle. Sounds like you didn't drain the tank initially. Low point just empties the lines.

My Seneca's tank drain is on the passenger side. Mine's a 2014. On the drivers side is the drains for water lines and water heater only. It takes a long time, nearly an hour to drain my FW tank through the low point tank drain when full. I suspect as Grumpy said, that the tank was not empty to begin with.

Thank you all for the tips!

I emptied the tank via the valve on the passenger side, and this time I put 50 gallons in before it began to overflow.

Any other tips?

Don't forget the 80 includes the water heater and if you're not perfectly level it will start to siphon before it's completely full.

On mine you need to be a bit of a contortionist but you can stick your head up behind the partition in the storage compartment the drain valve is located in and you can see the tank. You will be able to tell if it is full or not, and if desired you can measure the tank to confirm capacity.

Called Jayco. Found out that my motorhome has a 53 gallon tank, not an 80 gallon tank. Disappointed, but problem solved.

This is how I handled with my 2007. I added a custom FW tank.

Sorry, some pics are upside down!
