2014 Seneca Powertrain

I noticed that the Cummins in the new Seneca's is rated at 340 hp with the Allison transmission. The Dodge specs show the same motor in their brochure at 370 hp with an auto transmission. Does anyone know the difference? Also, is the power adequate to tow 6000 lbs., including on hills? How are the brakes? I assume they are air. I am looking at buying a new Seneca. Thanks for your input.

It isn't the HP it's the gearing. Trany gear ratio as well as rear end ratio, and no they are hydraulic brakes. We only have hydraulic on our 08 SENECA, KODIAK chassis as well as 330 HP and I've pulled 7,000 with no problem and also stopped the load, but with supplemental braking which is required in most if not all states.

I have 6500 miles on my 2014 Seneca approx 2000 pulling a 24ft car trailer weighing 6500lbs and it was no problem. Using a Primus brake controller so stopping no issue. Set the cruise at 63mph and got 9.8 mpg. Heading out with the trailer tomorrow for another 700 mile trip....can't wait!
